Feeling distressed about your mental health is entirely normal. Whether you are feeling anxious, depressed, or stressed about COVID, work or relationships, I believe that addressing psychological challenges should begin with developing an awareness of the influence of past experiences on current mental health. My role as a clinical psychologist involves working with you to understand the potentially traumatic origins of your current mental health difficulties. The process of developing awareness through exploring your past and addressing your current challenges requires a comfortable therapeutic relationship with your psychologist.

Hello, fellow sensitive person. Do you find yourself stuck in overthinking, anxiety, or thought loops that won’t quiet? Maybe you’re hard on yourself, even though you know it only adds to the strain. In a world that often feels uncertain and overwhelming, this is a very human response. And if being more sensitive than others feels tiring, you’re certainly not alone. Together, we can gently explore your experience and find new ways to respond. With practice, you can develop a steadier, kinder inner voice to rely on. We are all perfectly imperfect humans, and I’ll meet you with compassion as we take this one step at a time.

Hi, I believe that regardless of where we are in life, we all need the right support around us as we move toward hope, healing, and growth. Life challenges, relationships, faith, grief, and leadership can all feel heavy when we carry them alone. You may be feeling stuck, disconnected, overwhelmed, unsure how to move forward, tired of holding everything together, or worn down by the constant voice of your inner self-critic. If this resonates with you, I would welcome the opportunity to connect through a free 10-minute introductory call to explore how we may be able to work together.

Accepting new clients. Evening appointments available. I am a general psychologist with over 30 years of experience. I come to therapy with a non-pathologising view of symptoms and behaviour. My view is that the vast majority of symptoms of "mental illness" are an understandable response to various life circumstances. Some deep in our past, some in our present. I am passionate about helping people to heal, grow, and live full lives. I enjoy working at deep levels to shift stuckness, often the result of prior trauma. I work only with adults (over 20yo).

Therapy for women who are carrying too much, eldest daughters, high-functioning women struggling with burnout, and identity healing. I work with women who are often the “strong one” or someone others rely on. Many feel emotionally overwhelmed, burnt out, or disconnected from themselves while still functioning highly in daily life. They may be navigating identity, cultural expectations, or people-pleasing patterns. In our work together, I create a safe, supportive space to explore your experiences, understand your patterns, and help you move toward feeling more grounded, clear, and connected to yourself.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realised.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
