Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Psychologists and Therapists in Camp Hill, QLD
I integrate ACT and CBT to broaden flexibility in thinking; emotional, relational, and attachment focused approaches to identify present and past contributing factors to current concerns; and importantly - we explore the way society creates and maintains challenges for us.
I welcome clients from all backgrounds. I have spent many years working across the lifespan with children, adolescents, and adults in government, not-for-profits, with complex NDIS populations, and in private practice. I place a high value on working with individuals who may face barriers to traditional services including working with anxiety, depression, communication building, identity questions. I acknowledge the additional factors faced for clients with gender & sexuality concerns, with men & boys, and with rural populations who face considerable barriers to accessing traditional services.

I work with adults and older adolescents experiencing chronic stress, anxiety, depression, panic, and sleep disruption, as well as those living with chronic health conditions, burnout, and neurodevelopmental diagnoses (including ADHD and Autism). Many are managing strain across work or study, relationships, and daily functioning, often alongside patterns of sustained effort, high standards, and self-reliance. While effective in the short term, these patterns can become difficult to maintain, contributing to exhaustion, disrupted sleep, reduced capacity, and difficulty with decision-making or maintaining momentum.

My approach is warm, compassionate, and evidence-based, drawing on ACT, CBT, DBT, Attachment-Based Therapy, and EFIT.
I help people understand the patterns that keep them feeling stuck, whether that's anxiety, low self-worth, people-pleasing, or unhealthy relationship dynamics. Together, we'll build emotional resilience, healthier boundaries, and practical coping strategies so you can feel more confident, connected, and aligned with the life you want.

Hello, fellow sensitive person. Do you find yourself stuck in overthinking, anxiety, or thought loops that won’t quiet? Maybe you’re hard on yourself, even though you know it only adds to the strain. In a world that often feels uncertain and overwhelming, this is a very human response. And if being more sensitive than others feels tiring, you’re certainly not alone. Together, we can gently explore your experience and find new ways to respond. With practice, you can develop a steadier, kinder inner voice to rely on. We are all perfectly imperfect humans, and I’ll meet you with compassion as we take this one step at a time.

I specialise in working with couples, and those experiencing stress and mental health challenges (including drug/alcohol issues). Hello and welcome! My name is Fiona and I have been a counsellor and psychotherapist for 10 years. Our journey through life often doesn't go to plan and we sometimes feel 'derailed' from our desired path. Things may feel unbalanced and unworkable, resulting in great distress and difficulty. With a warm, empathetic and collaborative style, I support clients to identify and work on problematic thoughts, beliefs, feelings and behaviours. Building a strong therapeutic connection is critical to this process.

As a social worker and psychotherapist, what matters most to me is creating a space where you feel truly seen, safe, and respected. I want our time together to feel like somewhere you can show up exactly as you are (no masks, no pressure), and know that’s more than enough. I really believe that the connection between therapist and client is at the heart of any meaningful growth, which is why I bring a warm, down-to-earth, and often humour and playful energy into my sessions.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.
What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.
Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.
How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
