I can help with fear, overwhelm, grief, anxiety, and the mental health impacts of illness, at your pace.
You’ve just heard the words “cancer” or “brain tumour,” and suddenly life feels uncertain, overwhelming, or surreal. Maybe you’re trying to stay strong for everyone else while falling apart inside. Whether you’re newly diagnosed, in treatment, recovering, or living with ongoing impacts, you don’t have to face it alone. I work along side people navigating these challenges, offering a space to feel seen, heard, and gently supported through whatever this chapter brings. You don’t have to do it alone. I’ll walk beside you with compassion, honesty, and care as you find your way through.

You may be sitting at the crossroads of uncertainty, unsure about the path ahead. You may be feeling stuck in your past, unable to move on. If you're looking for a therapist that values honesty, humour, and actually getting to the point to support you with burnout, grief, anxiety, depression, trauma or any kind of life transition, we might be a great fit!
I believe in offering a therapy experience that doesn't feel overly stuffy or clinical. Many people love a clinical approach, but for those who don't, it can feel really daunting. I aim to provide support that feels authentic, where clients can come exactly as they are.

My ideal clients are individuals and couples ready to explore what's keeping them stuck — in old patterns, relationship struggles, or simply a life that no longer feels their own. Many carry early attachment wounds that quietly shape their present. I work relationally, creating a space where clients feel genuinely safe and heard. Together we explore what drives their patterns, rebuild trust in themselves and others, and find a way forward with greater clarity and freedom.

My name is Anita and I work with my Therapy Dogs Bonnie and Noah. I have two areas of my psychology work that I am passionate about making available to you. The first being Animal Assisted Therapy, and the second Art in Therapy. Having the dogs in my studio provides you with an emotionally safe and nurturing space to explore the distress you are feeling, without getting lost in it. The dogs are always there as a welcome sensory connection to the present moment. I also use art (basket weaving /picture cards, paint and other) to help you explore parts of your story and emotional experience that you don't have the right words for.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
