I know what it’s like to have life fall apart. My own journey through hardship led me to psychology — not just to survive, but to truly live again. For 30+ years, I’ve shared that hard-won knowledge, using CBT, NLP, EFT, mindfulness, and Gottman methods to help others find hope, healing, and lasting change.

I especially connect with and enjoy providing support to people who struggle because they are highly-sensitive (hsperson.com), perfectionists, over-thinkers, anxious/worriers, or they have a history of trauma (from childhood, or from adult experiences, such as military service, miscarriage, violent assault, workplace bullying). I enjoy complex presentations, where there may be PTSD, anxiety, attachment issues, perfectionism, where the person's goal is to create an inner peace, fulfilment and live a more contented life. With couples, I can help you learn how to communicate effectively, resolve conflicts and improve your connection.

In addition to a diploma in psychotherapy and Clinical hypnotherapy, am also certified in somatic therapy and grief-and-loss-counselling, trauma, and women's health
Life transitions can unsettle your sense of self at any age. Women of all ages experience changes and transitions that leave them feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or quietly lost. You may be facing immigration, menopause, health concerns, career changes, grief, or an identity that no longer fits. Even positive change can feel disorienting. Even long-awaited milestones can carry unexpected grief. Standing at the threshold of adulthood, about to get married, or navigating motherhood can still be challenging. You do not need to be in crisis to seek support.

Their issues might include overwhelming fear, sadness, or worry that impacts their daily functioning. They need a safe and empathetic space to openly discuss their emotions and struggles and practical strategies to cope with these mental health concerns. Their goals involve developing resilience, improving their mental and emotional state, and fostering a positive outlook.

I adapt my approach to each person, drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities including ACT, CBT, DBT, SFBT, Family Systems, schema therapy, hypnotherapy, attachment-based approaches, cultural humility, trauma-informed, feminist approaches and I keep it person-centred.
People come to me because they’ve never felt fully understood in mainstream services, as they identify as LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, or from refugee and multicultural backgrounds. I counsel people of all genders, as well as those in non-traditional relationships such as polyamory, ethical non-monogamy, Kink/BDSM communities, and sex workers. I support clients who feel deeply, are easily triggered, are navigating life with trauma, think differently, or live at the intersection of multiple identities — including those with mental health diagnoses, as well as couples and families seeking a space where their complexity is understood.

I've worked with youth aged 15 to 25, for over 35 years as a counsellor, coach and teacher. I've seen the challenges that you face as you work through the later school years and on into University or your first full time job. It can be hard, stressful and at times overwhelming. The amount of change going on in your life is massive, the weight of expectation from others as well as your own expectations can build up. Finding ways to handle all this is hard for everyone.

Subsequent sessions enable us to focus on specific issues using both counselling and hypnotherapy.
If you're looking at this site you're probably trying to find something or someone to help you move on from a difficult patch. We can't always change the world or others but we can always, by looking within, reframe circumstances so they more fully reflect a happier and brighter world. We all crave to live in a world where we are more truly aligned with our heart and its deeper longing. We only find that world when we can honestly say we love ourselves, which in turn enables us to love others. What is it that prevents us loving our self? Lets journey in this enquiry together.

Everyone I work with understands from the conscious logical mind level that what they are doing and feeling is not helpful and can identify what they would prefer to be doing and feeling - and yet to get from where they are to where they want to be feels like jumping a chasm. I work from an integrated approach incorporating both conscious and unconscious mind processes that support people to develop helpful habits and experience the success they want in their lives

I integrate evidence-based therapies including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) and clinical hypnotherapy to help process past experiences, reduce emotional intensity, and build a greater sense of calm and control.
Hi, I’m Adam. If you’re feeling stuck in anxiety or weighed down by past experiences, you’re not alone, and it doesn’t have to stay that way. Many people find themselves caught in patterns of overthinking, emotional overwhelm, or reactions they can’t fully explain. I specialise in trauma and anxiety, including PTSD, Dissociative Identity Disorder and complex trauma. My approach goes beyond just talking, working with both the conscious and subconscious mind to create real, lasting change.

HypnoTherapy
How does hypnotherapy work?
Hypnotherapy works by using guided hypnosis to help you reach a state of focus and concentration through mental imagery and soothing verbal repetition. The state is somewhat like being absorbed in a book, a movie, or your own thoughts. You are not under a therapist’s “control,” but they can help you relax and turn your attention inward to discover the resources to achieve behavior change or better manage psychological concerns. Therapy sessions may involve guiding you through recognizing a problem, releasing problematic thoughts about it, and considering and accepting more productive alternatives before returning to normal awareness. Hypnotherapy is typically used by a therapist along with traditional forms of talk therapy. Eventually, your therapist can help you learn hypnotherapy techniques yourself so you can establish a stronger sense of control on your own in stressful or challenging moments.

Is hypnotherapy the same as hypnosis?
Hypnotherapy, which is sometimes called hypnotic suggestion, is a therapeutic technique in which a therapist uses hypnosis to help patients. It is not the kind of hypnosis portrayed in stage shows, or in movies or on television. You will not be unconscious or asleep during hypnotherapy, you will not lose control of yourself, your thoughts, or your free will, and you will be able to fully recall your experience. And while you will hear your therapist’s suggestions, it is always up to you to decide whether to act on them. Hypnosis by a trained mental-health professional is not a form of mind control, which is impossible to achieve anyway.

Can everyone be hypnotized?
The most common challenge of hypnotherapy is that as many as one in four people cannot be hypnotized. Brain imaging has confirmed differences in patterns of brain connectivity between those who respond to hypnotism and those who do not. Other people who could potentially be hypnotized may not respond to the technique because of their skepticism or resistance to entering a hypnotic state. If a therapist’s “post-hypnotic suggestion” is effective, it’s because they are suggesting something you want to achieve.

Does hypnotherapy work?
Through hypnotherapy, you can achieve changes that are real and sustainable. Like other talk therapy techniques, when hypnotherapy succeeds, it’s a case of mind over matter. Effective hypnotherapy involves self-healing because you access resources you need to change inside of yourself and learn how to tap into them whenever you need. Hypnotherapy has been shown to be an effective therapy for anxiety, phobias, stress, panic attacks, post-traumatic stress disorder, sexual dysfunction, and undesirable behaviors like smoking. It can be used to help improve sleep or to address relationship challenges, and to aid with pain management, digestive disorders, skin conditions, and the gastrointestinal side effects of pregnancy or chemotherapy.
