Drawing on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and attachment-based work, I help clients meet their denied parts and painful memories with compassion, creating space to understand the patterns keeping them stuck.
Many of us learn to hide parts of ourselves to fit in, succeed, or stay safe. But when self-protection becomes second nature, it can leave us feeling disconnected, anxious, or stuck. My work is about helping you move from coping to healing to flourishing.
My heart lies with supporting two types of clients who have had to learn to hide parts of themselves - LGBTQIA+ individuals facing the challenges of rejection, shame, and self-acceptance, and those with High-Functioning Anxiety—perfectionists, deep thinkers, and self-sacrificers who struggle to slow down and self-soothe.

My approach is psychodynamic, attachment-based, and trauma-informed.
Those who tend to like working with me tend to be curious and creative, deeply attuned to others, but not the best at naming their own needs. You might find yourself stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, feeling overwhelmed and burnt out, and wanting to feel more present. You may struggle with shame, boundaries, or building safe and mutual relationships. Maybe you've tried traditional talk therapy in the past but felt that something was missing. Somatic therapy might be just what you need to work through pain from the past that still lives in your body. If you want genuine change—not just quick fixes—you're in the right place.

I am an attachment-based psychotherapist, and also draw on psychodynamic psychotherapy, internal family systems (IFS), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), interpersonal psychotherapy, and mentalising interventions.
I work with adults who are experiencing emotional pain associated with patterns in their relationships with themselves and others. We all form such patterns through what we learn implicitly in our earliest attachments. My patients are reflective, and they want support to make sense of how their patterns of behaviour are linked to events and unmet needs in their family of origin. The reflective work of therapy can help people access much more choice in how they respond to life's challenges and how they show up in their present relationships.

Attachment-based Counsellors
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioural Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
