I also use a psychodynamic approach and IIFS as well as look at a person’s health and social impacts on a person's life.
In my 29 years as a mental health provider, I have taken great pride in helping people through a variety of challenges and life events. To me, therapy is about become whole again, healing current issues and past traumas, (even the ones we don’t remember, but our bodies and psyche does). Most often clients present with one issue and the connections we make during our work together show many layers and exactly why these situations arise. I help my clients not only understand where they are and why they are there, but also what they must do to change their lives, heal, and move forward a happier and healthier person.

I work with adult individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, grief and loss, or who are seeking to explore complicated life matters. Hi, I’m Donald. A lot of the people who find their way to me aren’t “falling apart” in obvious ways - they’re functioning, capable, often the ones others rely on - but there’s a persistent sense that something isn’t right. Maybe you can’t find ease in yourself, you keep repeating the same relationship patterns, or you’re tired of managing life while feeling disconnected from it. My work is relational, attachment-informed, and formulation-driven.

My approach is warm and relational, using attachment, interpersonal and psychodynamic therapies to explore how your past shapes your present.
Hello and welcome. If you’re seeking deeper self-understanding and meaningful change, we can work together to strengthen your connection with yourself and others. While practical strategies can be valuable, they don't always address the underlying reasons we find ourselves repeating the same emotional or relational patterns. Whether you're seeking relief from distress, wanting greater self-awareness, or stronger connections in your relationships, therapy can help you move toward a more fulfilling and meaingful life. Together, we can explore the deeper roots of these experiences and create opportunities for change.

I am passionate about supporting others to live a more meaningful life and deepen their connection within themselves and their relationships. My approach is curious, compassionate and collaborative. Therapy offers a space to slow down and explore your experiences together, supporting you to know and accept yourself more fully, and reconnect with your innate values, vitality, and agency. I often work with people who may come across as capable and doing ok externally, but inside might be struggling with anxiety, self doubt, internalised emotions, or not feeling as fulfilled in their life or relationships as they'd like.

I offer individual online counselling and psychotherapy grounded in existential, psychodynamic, and narrative approaches (IFS-informed) and creative expression.
I support adults, older adults and teenagers experiencing grief, loss, bereavement, trauma, migration, and major life transitions. Many come after the death of a loved one. Others grieve something less visible but just as real: a relationship, a sense of home, an identity, or a version of themselves that feels lost. Some live with anxiety, depression, complex trauma, existential questions about life meaning and mortality. I work with neurodivergent individuals in an affirming way. I also work with French-speaking clients and people navigating relocation across all states and territories in Australia.

I use person-centred, psychodynamic, and REBT approaches.
You might be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or like you're not quite yourself lately. Maybe you're juggling cultural expectations, relationship stress, or wondering if you might be neurodivergent. You just want to feel more in control, more understood, and more like you. You're looking for a counsellor who really listens, sees the bigger picture, and helps you make sense of what’s going on—with kindness and no judgment.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
