Accepting new clients. Evening appointments available. I am a general psychologist with over 30 years of experience. I come to therapy with a non-pathologising view of symptoms and behaviour. My view is that the vast majority of symptoms of "mental illness" are an understandable response to various life circumstances. Some deep in our past, some in our present. I am passionate about helping people to heal, grow, and live full lives. I enjoy working at deep levels to shift stuckness, often the result of prior trauma. I work only with adults.

I offer support for people like you who are feeling overwhelmed, lost, alone, or tired of trying to figure it out themselves. If you landed here, you may be feeling burnt out and hoping to find a supportive place to sort through what's going on. You may have something big happening in your life - like becoming a mother, graduating high school, getting diagnosed with ADHD, or recovering from trauma. Or you may have finally found some stability to unravel all the anxiety you've been carrying. It might include a lifetime of high achieving, people pleasing, perfectionism. Sound familiar in any way? I'm so glad you're here.

People come to counselling for many different reasons. Sometimes it’s in response to a specific challenge, and other times it’s simply a sense that things aren’t feeling manageable on your own. You don’t need to have the right words or a clear explanation to begin. What matters most is having a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported at your own pace, without judgement or pressure to know what comes next. I offer a calm, steady, and non-judgmental counselling space where we take time to understand what’s been weighing on you. Sessions are guided by what feels most important and manageable to you.

Hi, I’m Claire, a Clinical Psychologist with 20 years of experience. I work with adults who feel stuck in the effects of trauma and are wanting support to move out of survival mode and into a sense of calm, safety, and connection. My approach goes beyond talk therapy alone to support deeper, lasting change. I help gently process traumatic experiences such as relationship trauma, sexual abuse, and physical assault that still feel present in the body and emotions. You may be impacted by trauma if you have been feeling emotionally exhausted, overwhelmed, on edge, or disconnected from yourself and your life.

If you’re living with complex conditions like POTS, Long COVID, MCAS, EDS, CFS, or Autoimmune disorders, your nervous system is likely in a constant state of high alert. When a body is stuck in a cycle of flares, exhaustion, and medical gaslighting, "just talking about it" often isn't enough. You can’t talk your way out of a physiological nervous system response. My practice is designed for those who have hit a wall with traditional talk therapy and are seeking a body-based, neuroaffirming approach to find stability again.

I'm a counsellor who has specialised in psychosexual therapy. Many of the women I work with feel disconnected from their sexual selves. They may be experiencing painful penetration, low desire, difficulty reaching orgasm, or struggling with body image and self-esteem. These challenges are often shaped by deeper emotional patterns and beliefs around sex and the body. My approach is gentle, collaborative, and grounded in schema therapy, viewed through a feminist lens. I offer a non-judgmental space to explore what’s going on beneath the surface and how these might be impacting your relationship with your body, sexuality, and intimacy.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realised.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
