I am a Doctor of Clinical Psychology who trained in the UK and has worked in England, New Zealand and now Australia. My main interest is understanding the meaning behind an individual's suffering. My philosophy is that diagnoses act as a potential obstacle to truly understanding the reality of an individual's experience. Therefore, in practice, I try to refrain from medicalising someone's misery and instead be open to perceiving people's expressions of distress as often logical, rational, predictable and understandable reactions to some form of neglect, abuse, loss and/or trauma.
