My approach is firmly structured on a psychodynamic foundation that explores your attachment strategies and defenses and how you commonly seek to get your needs met.

I also help people with attachment issues, people experiencing difficulties in their relationships, people dealing with grief, loss and bereavement, or who are going through health or life role transitions such as chronic illness or a divorce.

Do you feel stuck in exhausting cycles of guilt, shame or self-doubt, even while appearing to function well on the outside? Difficult home environments, trauma, or neurodivergence may have shaped how you see yourself, leaving you silently battling intense thoughts and emotions. Perhaps you’ve been through painful experiences that others (or yourself) might not see as trauma yet they’ve had a deep impact. Trauma isn’t always one big event; it can come from ongoing experiences like emotional neglect, criticism, bullying, or growing up around conflict.
My passion is working with complex trauma often accompanied with neurodivergence.

Maddi helps clients to move forward in their lives and helps them to create a life they feel good in. Maddi’s therapy style is present/future based using Solution Focused and IFS therapy, aiming to improve positive emotions rather than looping through past stories and re-living past traumas through talking about the past alone. Clients may find this therapy style helpful if they have tried talking about the past and found that it hasn't worked for them/they have no capacity/and/are recovering from burn-out/trauma and they want to work with someone who helps them take action to move forward both physically and mentally.

Person-centred and relationally grounded, my work draws on psychodynamic and existential thinking.
My clients are adults carrying something for a long time without a name for it. Functioning on the outside. Holding careers, relationships, and families together. But underneath, something keeps surfacing in the same patterns, the same arguments, the same sleepless nights.
Many are navigating major transitions. A career change. A relationship ending. A move across countries or cultures. Some carry the invisible weight of expectations that were never theirs to own.
All of them have reached a point where something has to shift. I work with them to find what is underneath. Not to fix them. To help them finally see themselves clearly.

Hi, my name is Vasiliki and I am a fully registered psychologist with AHPRA and a Medicare provider under the Better Access program. I currently offer online sessions only, working mainly with adults across Australia.
My approach is warm and compassionate, and I draw on different evidence-based modalities such as CBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based therapies. I believe that each person is unique, so I adapt my approach to meet your individual needs rather than taking a one-size-fits-all model.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
