I am an experienced clinical psychologist, with a particular interest in working with clients who have difficulties regulating their emotions (anxiety, mood, shame, anger), have interpersonal or relationship difficulties, or personality issues. I find that these people are often misunderstood by others, which leads to them misunderstanding themselves and the origin of their difficulties.

If we are left to face our problems alone, we can fall into a downward spiral. Sharing your concerns with me or with another professional will help you to assess and address them. You can go further in life by unloading some of the emotional weight you have been carrying for so long. Let me help you improve your life.

People may seek therapy when the impact of life’s demands, past experiences, or protective patterns starts to exceed capacity, and that strain shows up as disconnection—potentially from purpose, from the body, or from relationships. You may be carrying the effects of painful or overwhelming experiences that still shape how you feel and relate today. Reaching out is a significant step, and you don’t have to work out the next ones alone. I offer compassionate, collaborative therapy informed by years of clinical experience, extensive training, and my work as a facilitator and trainer with the Blue Knot Foundation.

Hello! I am Jordi, the director of Jigsaw Psychology & Assessment. I would describe myself as highly empathetic, easy to talk to, but as someone who can also be direct when needed. I have a keen interest in helping people understand and work through the true causes of anxiety; understanding and processing trauma; and also working with neurodivergent people. While I am well trained in CBT, and frequently utilise it, I am also interested in what is underlying presenting concerns, and how to best tackle them. This can look different depending on the client, but it is always something I am keen to explore.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, tired, hopeless or lacking joy; like your emotions are uncontrollable or that they do not match with reality; that your worry is getting out of hand or that there is no longer any point, then it might be a good time to seek some support. We are social creatures, and despite what our modern society might have us believe, we all need human connection to function. Seeking support is a huge sign of strength – the strength to actually reach out and let someone in, in order to start the healing process. If you can relate to this or if you have set yourself a personal development goal please reach out.

Life can be perplexing at times. Psychotherapy can help. It firstly involves meeting together to understand your current experience and to foster a relationship of safety. We can then work respectfully to help you find fresh and empowering responses to the patterns and relationships that are causing stress and distress. I draw on evidence-based approaches - developmental psychology (ANZAP), mindfulness training (MBSR and MiCBT) and Internal Family Systems Therapy. These approaches harness present moment awareness and exploration to build a more compassionate and empowering relationship with yourself.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioural Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
