Whether it's with yourself, your partner or your kids.
Hi, I’m Ange and I’m passionate about supporting neurodivergent individuals, especially autistic children and adults, to embrace who they are, believe in themselves and find their voice in a world that doesn’t always 'get it'. I’m not here to 'fix' you because there’s nothing broken. Instead, I’ll walk alongside you as you build the tools you need to thrive without exhausting yourself trying to fit into a neuronormative box. I also work with parents of autistic young people. Let’s face it, parenting can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re trying to balance understanding your child’s needs with everything life throws your way.

I now have the privilege of helping others through their life challenges, family, parenting, relationship issues, grief, mental health, whatever the struggle is.
I believe the counselling process is sacred and it is an honour and privilege to be trusted with someone’s story. I understand counselling is not necessarily an easy process, thus I believe it is important to meet my clients where they are at and work at a pace that suits them. Encouraging clients to work with me and always give them choices along the way.

I have experience working with both men and women, as well as couples and families and prefer to take a holistic approach.
I strive to ensure my clients feel heard, understood and respected, regardless of their situation, past or concern. Taking a positive psychology and humanistic approach, I fundamentally believe that every person has a unique strength and I strive to maximise and build upon that strength. I focus on the person as a whole and want to help people be the best version of themselves. Moving away from a deficit focus, I use strengths-based approaches with my clients. I aim to continuously provide clients with respect, a collaborative approach to working on goals, with compassion and authenticity.

I am passionate about working with people to unpack and explore early childhood trauma, facilitate self-exploration, examine emotional blind spots and understand relationship patterns in order to have a functional, happy and healthy existence.
I specialise in Trauma, Child Sexual Abuse and Personality Disorders. I work holistically and understand that dysfunction does not stem merely from biochemistry of the brain. There are many elements involved in creating problematic experiences, so understanding YOU in context with your environment is crucial.

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
