I am an easy going psychologist who doesnt take things too seriously, however I still love to produce results. I have a wealth of experience under the NDIS, but do delve into private, work cover, CTP and victims services to broaden my experience. I like to ensure I am the right psychologist first, and try to help refer out to someone who is suitable if I am not.

Counselling is a space for you to explore yourself and become more self-aware. Within this trusting environment you will feel increasingly able to be open with yourself and with me about what you are experiencing. The relationship that we create is two people being genuinely present and increasingly free to be themselves with each other. I will help you become yourself, more able to freely move around within your person-hood, to be more fluid and less fixed in attitudes or particular behaviours and reactions, many of which you may have learned from others rather than being direct expressions of your own essential nature.

I work with individuals experiencing complex trauma, PTSD, obsessive-compulsive disorder, ADHD, anger and aggression, men's issues, and performance-related concerns, including those in sports and high-functioning professions.
Mental health challenges don’t appear out of nowhere, and they are never just a personal failing. The distress you feel today has roots—shaped by experiences, relationships, and messages you’ve absorbed over time. From childhood, you learned ways to navigate pain, disappointment, or fear, often without even realising it. Whether it was through pushing emotions down, always staying in control, or constantly meeting others’ expectations, these responses were once necessary to ensure you mattered or to prevent pain. But survival isn’t the same as living freely.

Hi, my name is Ji Fang but everyone calls me Fang. I've known for a long time I wanted to work with people. After a successful decade-long career in Human Resources, I decided to pursue a new direction in Psychology where I can work on a deeper personal level with people. I love using my psychological skills and training to help people improve mental health, heal from trauma, overcome addictions, connect with their purpose in life, work towards their goals and build better relationships. There is nothing more rewarding than to see my clients become stronger, better versions of themselves.

Most people who reach out are carrying something that’s been hard to put into words. It might be a sense that life isn’t quite working, a pattern in relationships that keeps repeating, or a quieter struggle with self-worth, anxiety or substance use. Many of the people I see have spent years getting on with things and are only now stopping to ask why it feels harder than it should. Whatever brings you in, my job is to help you make sense of it, in a space where nothing is off limits and you don’t have to have the right words before you start.

Before I worked as a clinical psychologist, I was a professional musician. This line of work taught me a lot. I found that the best music is made when one listens carefully, and responds to what is happening in the moment, rather than simply reciting familiar material. I bring the same philosophy to my work as a psychologist. It is incredibly important to first listen, and deeply understand the goals of the individual, which then guide the direction of therapy.

Men's Issues Therapists
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
