I'm trained in EMDR, Parts Work, Schema Therapy and DBT, and I tailor our work to your needs, at a pace that feels safe and right for you.
Together, we'll make sense of what's keeping you stuck and build the inner resources to move forward. I draw on EMDR, Parts Work (IFS), Schema Therapy, DBT and CBT, starting with safety and stability before gently working through what's weighing on you. I see clients in Surry Hills and Newtown, and via telehealth across Australia and Ontario.

My approach is gentle, collaborative, and grounded in schema therapy, viewed through a feminist lens.
I incorporate practical tools like guided reflection, imagery, and grounding exercises. While our work may begin with a specific concern around sexuality or intimacy, the process often creates positive ripple effects, strengthening emotional wellbeing and enhancing your overall quality of life.

Counsellor, ACA-L1

I'm person-centred and trauma-informed, drawing on CBT, Schema Therapy, ACT, parts work, and attachment theory.
I work with individuals and couples navigating life's harder moments: anxiety, grief, relationship breakdowns, low self-esteem, burnout, or simply feeling stuck. Many clients aren't in crisis; they just sense something is "off" and want space to think it through with someone outside their usual circle. Others come after a specific rupture, like a breakup or issues in the workplace. Together, we work at a pace that feels right for them, building the safety and self-understanding needed to move from overwhelmed to grounded.

I utilise a solution-focused, integrative approach, including CBT, ACT, Schema Therapy and EMDR.
You may be navigating a difficult life transition, managing a complex personal history, or seeking a truly affirmative space within the LGBTQIA+ community. Many of my clients feel "stuck" in cycles of persistent stress, relationship conflict, or emotional exhaustion and want more than just a listener; they want a clear strategy for change. Your goal is to move past the mental fog to regain a sense of purpose and connection. You need a professional who understands that your well-being is tied to your values and that you deserve a life where you feel in control, rather than just reacting to the next challenge.

George Schneider
Psychologist, MPsych, PsyBA General
Surry Hills, NSW 2010
I work in a trauma-informed, neuroaffirming, and client-centred way, drawing on evidence-based therapies such as CBT, Schema Therapy, ACT, DBT, and mindfulness.
I work with professionals under pressure who are experiencing burnout, anxiety, or feeling stuck despite outward success. Therapy focuses on understanding underlying patterns and improving how they manage stress and demands. On the surface, things often appear to be going well, but internally there may be persistent stress, burnout, low mood, relationship strain, or a sense that usual coping strategies are no longer effective. Many clients come to therapy not necessarily because everything has fallen apart, but because what has worked for them so far is no longer sustainable.

Schema Therapy
How does schema therapy work?
Schema therapy is based on the idea that maladaptive thought patterns formed in childhood—that other people can never be relied on, for example—can interfere with healthy functioning in adulthood. Accordingly, schema therapy works by directly targeting such unhealthy schemas, identifying their consequences, and replacing them with more adaptive ways of thinking. To this end, schema therapists aim to “reparent” the client by offering what they didn’t get in childhood—validation, for instance, or compassion—to reorient their worldview.

Is schema therapy evidence-based?
Schema therapy is still considered relatively new, and research on its efficacy is still in progress. However, some studies have concluded that it can be effective at treating certain mental health conditions, most notably personality disorders such as borderline personality disorder. Evidence for its efficacy in treating conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and OCD is promising but less conclusive, and experts warn that much of the existing research is of low quality.

Is schema therapy a type of CBT?
Schema therapy is based on many principles of CBT, most notably the process of recognising and challenging maladaptive thought patterns. But because schema therapy also draws from other approaches, including psychoanalysis and Gestalt therapy, it is not considered a form of CBT. It also typically delves deeper into the client’s childhood than does CBT.

How does schema therapy work?
Schema therapy does not call for a set number of sessions and is instead open-ended, with the treatment timeline depending on the client’s primary concern(s), progress, and preferences. Treatment that lasts between six months and two years is common, though many clients will start to see progress much earlier than that.
