I predominantly specialise in coaching men to embody conscious masculinity and counselling couples to strengthen emotional safety and connection.
Hi I’m Mike. I am a men’s coach, relationship therapist, mindfulness facilitator, blogger and a podcaster. I live a stone’s throw from the beach with my family and when I’m not in the playground, I love composing music and swimming in the river at Brunswick Heads.

We all need support, no-one can do life on their own.
My approach to counselling is to offer a person centered approach by supporting you to build a solid foundation as you go through life that will support you if things happen that throw you off course. When you have that solid foundation you have a steadiness and a quality that is forever holding, no matter what comes our way.

Whether it be a loved one, a job, a house or your dreams we can work together to find ways to cope, ease the pain and rediscover purpose and meaning in your life at a time when we feel there is none.
My Major in is in grief therapy. I believe that talking about loved ones and openly treasuring memories is both beneficial and comforting. The end of life in no way translates to the end of a relationship. Understanding why we are suffering can help, as can talking to and sharing our emotional pain with others.

Counselling can be an empowering process that supports you to develop a deeper understanding of the areas of life that are preventing you from living a full and enriching life.
I have worked in the field of mental health since 2000. I use an integrative approach of Internal family systems therapy, sensorimotor psychotherapy, ACT, mindfulness & CBT. I believe in the wisdom of a person's own system and the capacity for healing not just symptom reduction. Trauma, anxiety, relationship issues, insomnia are areas of special interest.

And I do that by combining the best of coaching & therapy.
Do you ever feel out of place in your world? That there's something that's not quite right? Have you ever considered that you might be trying to adjust to a world that's fundamentally flawed? That you might be seeking meaning and connection in an increasingly disconnected world? And that you're not broken? I've seen many people struggle unnecessarily from trying to fit into a mould that doesn't make sense. With that comes anxiety, self-doubt, disconnection in relationships & wobbly self-esteem. Together we'll discover what your unique place in the world is, and how to inhabit it unapologetically.

Life offers us all challenges, sometimes huge, sometimes small, these challenges present themselves so that we may grow and in the process become wiser.
Relational Gestalt therapy is process-oriented, focussing on integrating the senses, body, emotions, and intellect. Working toward becoming an authentic whole human being. Issues include addiction, relationship issues, trauma, anxiety, and depression. Expressive therapies offer a bridge between our inner and outer worlds when language is often unavailable.

We also work together to make sure you are well "resourced" with a variety of strategies to apply to situations and stressors as they come up in your life.
I am a therapist specialising in assisting clients who have physical and psychological symptoms relating to traumas that they have experienced in their lives. These may be relatively discrete traumas such as a car accident, or they may be complex traumas sustained over time including from early childhood. When we experience trauma both our body and our mind remember what has happened. We try to make sense of what has happened and develop "apps" to deal with and respond to similar situations. These apps can however become problematic, particularly if they are accidentally opening all the time. We call this being "Triggered".

Life Coaching Counsellors

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
