I have developed my extensive knowledge and experience in supporting individuals, couples, families and health professionals to grow into the people they want to be and lead the life they want to lead. My experience has shown me that people make sense of who they are by being in relationship with another whilst feeling psychologically safe.

I came to be a Gestalt therapist because of my own lived experiences, and I’m proud to say the person I am today is because I had the courage to seek support. Therapy in my view is a safe place where you can come and truly be yourself, to be seen and heard free of judgment so you can explore who you are and how you are in the world. For me it’s all about the restoration of choice, to choose how you want to live, and my role is to support you through that process. Human beings are relational by nature, and it is in the relationship we have with ourselves and with others that we heal and grow.

Most of us, at one time or another will experience challenges with our thoughts and emotions, our behaviours, or our relationships. It is at these times that we are offered an opportunity to more deeply know and connect to ourselves. I support my clients to understand, explore, and navigate their inner worlds, manage mental health, relationships, loss and grief, life transitions and change. Together we seek to offer space and meaning to those often ‘hidden aspects’ of self. My goal is to help you on your journey towards emotional well-being and self-discovery.

I arrived as a refugee with my family back in 1999. My first experience as a psychologist was in trauma field, volunteering my university holidays with STARTTS, non-for-profit organisation helping survivors of trauma. At the time I was a young person, helping other refugee kids and young people assimilate to Australia. Following my university degree, I facilitated childhood trauma paediatric clinics as the only psychologist on board with NSW Area Health for number of years, working closely with senior paediatricians completing assessments for children, ranging from infants until 16 years of age.

Understanding how you experience the world is central to my work as a therapist. I am interested how feelings and thoughts can manifest in our bodies. Gentle exploration of these somatic responses can assist in deeper understanding of our emotional world. Working together, I would support you toward your self-acceptance of challenging thoughts and feelings. Alongside my private practice, I work with a national not-for-profit supporting parents experiencing antenatal and postnatal anxiety, depression and adjustment to parenthood - as a spokesperson, managing clinical intake and clinical writing.

You are looking for a caring and professional counsellor/psychotherapist to listen compassionately to your concerns, validate your feelings and empathise with your challenges. Working together, we can collaboratively discover how best to fulfil your potential and live your best life. You might be struggling with overwhelming changes, such as grief and loss or life-stage transitions. Or you might be feeling stuck with behaviours that have outlived their usefulness. As Jung said, 'Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.' Self-awareness brings the freedom of making new choices.

People may seek therapy when the impact of life’s demands, past experiences, or protective patterns starts to exceed capacity, and that strain shows up as disconnection—potentially from purpose, from the body, or from relationships. You may be carrying the effects of painful or overwhelming experiences that still shape how you feel and relate today. Reaching out is a significant step, and you don’t have to work out the next ones alone. I offer compassionate, collaborative therapy informed by years of clinical experience, extensive training, and my work as a facilitator and trainer with the Blue Knot Foundation.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioural Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
