I am a warm, empathetic and experienced professional counsellor and supervisor, helping both individual clients and couples learn to reduce anxiety, self-regulate, and heal from trauma, addiction, and relationship issues.
As your counsellor, I work with you to meet the challenges in your life as you experience them. In a safe, caring space you are free to express your feelings, be heard and understood: where you can honestly explore your concerns. Together, we can clarify what kind of life you want to live, recognise your strengths and resources, discover your options, increase your self-awareness, and develop strategies to help you live your life the way you choose. My background in the performing arts has given me an appreciation of the incredible diversity in perspectives and choices we make as individuals, and to truly value the human spirit.

Maybe you've tried to push through it, but the anxiety, shame, or emotional exhaustion keeps coming back.
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected, you’re not alone. Many clients I see are carrying invisible pain—trauma, relationship struggles, or harsh self-criticism that won’t let up. I offer therapy that’s steady, practical, and tailored to help you find clarity, strength, and emotional connection—with yourself and with others who matter most.

Yes, I can list the many challenges that I help people with, anxiety, stress, depression, anger, grief, truama, but my greatest desire is to make therapy achievable and comfortable for everyone, to be right there with you, listen to you, support you, make you feel safe.
I have a lifetime of experience which shapes me as a counsellor, along with the academic knowledge. This experience, and the belief that trauma underpins many conditions, has led me to become qualified in mindfulness/meditation therapy as well as EMIT/EMDR, one of the most highly acknowledged and successful trauma therapies.

My focus is on anxiety, EMDR for relationship-based trauma , building social confidence, mood stability and eating disorders.

Anxiety Therapists
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
