Hi, I’m Magdalena, but you can call me Maggie. I’m a counsellor with a background in psychology who supports people feeling stuck, anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure of their next steps. Life’s demands can leave you feeling low or confused by your emotions. I offer a calm, non-judgmental space to explore what’s going on and understand your feelings better, so you can work with them, not against them. My strength-based approach helps you build self-esteem, recognize your inner resources, and move toward a life that feels more aligned and empowering.

Gentle, body-based therapy to help you feel safer, calmer, and more connected. You might feel anxious, disconnected, overwhelmed—or like you’re holding it all together but never quite landing. Maybe your body feels tense or shut down. Maybe you long for more ease, more self-trust, or simply a space where you don’t have to work so hard to be okay. Whether you’re new to therapy or looking for a deeper, more embodied approach, you’re welcome here. Together, we move gently—toward safety, connection, and change that lasts.

I support adults and adolescents experiencing distress including anxiety, depression, anger, addiction, relationships, self esteem, motivation, trauma, parenting.
The therapy journey can help us understand and address distress in our lives through understanding how the past has stayed alive in our current experience. It is no longer about what happened, it is how it lives on in parts of ourselves.. "Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it" (Brene Brown). I offer a safe therapeutic environment for you to navigate and resolve the concerns and difficulties you face with gentle curiosity and mindfulness, and will support you in building self-compassion, understanding and connection, strength, self-esteem and a sense of empowerment.

I work with clients that struggle with chronic depressive symptoms and persistent anxiety that get in the way of their life and/or their relationships.
“I believe that every individual will experience challenges throughout their lives and that those experiences can shape the way a person can feel, think and behave with the world around them and in their interpersonal relationships. Often we attempt to protect ourselves from feeling difficult emotions through behaving in a way that is taking us away from living the life we want. I believe that building a deep understanding and connection to the core of our emotional experience can provide understanding and clarity to promote emotional and behavioural change and mental wellbeing.”

Welcoming New Clients. Hello, I’m Harriet. I work with overthinkers, high-achievers, and busy professionals who often feel mentally stretched, caught in cycles of worry, or unable to switch off. If you struggle with racing thoughts, perfectionism, difficulty resting, or feeling constantly “on,” therapy can help you feel calmer, think more clearly, avoid burnout, and be more present. Together, we can explore strategies to notice stress earlier, respond to emotions with self-kindness, pause before reacting, make decisions with confidence, embrace slower mornings, rest without guilt, and stay aligned with your values.

My ideal client is ready for change. They’re insightful, proactive, and seeking clarity around patterns that no longer serve them—whether it’s anxiety, overthinking, or relationship challenges. They want practical strategies, not just talk, and are motivated to understand themselves more deeply. They’re not here to be rescued—they’re here to grow, to realign with their values, and to create a more grounded, authentic life.

Accepting new clients! Virtual Only! You might look like you have it together on the outside, but inside, your mind doesn't slow down. You replay conversations, question yourself, and feel stuck in patterns especially in relationships or during big life transitions. Maybe you're anxious, disconnected, or trying to balance who you are with you you're expected to be. It can feel exhausting. In our work together, we'll slow things down collaboratively, and make sense of what's underneath these patterns. If you're ready to feel more clear, grounded, and love yourself again, I'm here to help.

Depression Therapists
What is the goal of therapy for depression?
Therapy for depression has several major goals. One is to relieve the mental pain of depression, which distorts feeling and thinking so that sufferers cannot see beyond their current state of mind or envision feeling better. Another is to give people the mental tools to recognise and correct the kinds of distorted thinking that turn a problem into a catastrophe and lead to despair. Therapy also teaches people how to process negative emotions in constructive ways, so they have more control over their own emotional reactivity. And it helps people regain the ability to see themselves positively, the motivation to do things, and the capacity for pleasure.

What happens in therapy for depression?
Perhaps most important, no matter the type of therapy, patients form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Patients learn to identify and to challenge their own erroneous beliefs and thoughts that amplify the effects of negative experiences. They learn to identify situations in which they are especially vulnerable. And they learn new patterns of thinking and behaving. They may be given “homework” assignments in which they practice their developing skills. In addition, good therapists regularly monitor patients to assess whether and how much the condition is improving.

What therapy types help with depression?
Several types of short-term therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) helps clients challenge their negative thoughts and beliefs, learn new behavioral strategies, and curb reactivity to distressing situations. Behavioural activation (BA) is a form of therapy often used in conjunction with CBT; it focuses on engagement in rewarding activity as a pathway to changing negative feelings and disturbed mood. Another widely used approach is interpersonal therapy (IPT), which targets the social difficulties that both give rise to and get exacerbated by depression. Therapists may combine approaches as needed.

Can therapy for depression be done online?
Studies have found that online therapy can be highly effective for treating depression, although it may be more challenging to build a good therapist-patient alliance on screen than in person—at least at first. However, online therapy can offer considerable advantages. Accessibility and convenience are tops among them. Some people actually find it easier to talk about problems online than in person. While online therapy typically limits visibility of facial expression and body gestures that give important nonverbal cues to a patient’s state of mind, it can give therapists a glimpse into a patient’s world and life, providing information that can be highly useful in guiding therapy.

How effective is therapy for depression?
Many studies show that therapy is highly effective provided that patients complete the prescribed course of therapy, commonly 16 to 20 sessions. Over the long term, it is more effective than medication and the effects are more enduring. As a result, psychotherapy has the power not just to relieve current suffering but to prevent future episodes of the disorder. Therapy reverses the dysfunction in neural circuitry that disposes individuals to a negative view of themselves, the world, and their future and they acquire coping techniques, problem-solving skills, and understanding of their own vulnerabilities that are useful over the course of a lifetime.
