Taking the first step to reach out for support can feel like a big leap and I want you to know that you're not alone in this. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all experience. We are all unique, and my goal is to work alongside you to create a treatment plan that is as individual as you are. Together, we will explore your struggles, discover your strengths, and find practical ways to improve your wellbeing. I take a warm, compassionate approach to therapy, creating a space where you feel heard, supported, and ready to take on new challenges with confidence.

I’ve dedicated my career to understanding how mental health affects individuals, couples and organisations, and to shaping responses that keep safety, dignity, and real change at the centre.
Our counselling service is open to all and designed around you. We use evidence-based approaches and regularly measure outcomes so you can see what’s working and feel confident in your progress. Sessions are person-centred, we move at your pace whilst also facing into challenges, focus on what matters most to you, and work together on clear, achievable goals. If you’re ready for support that is respectful, inclusive, challenging and grounded in what the research shows really helps, reach out to arrange a brief conversation or schedule your session.

The foundation of my work lies in the therapeutic relationship I have with my clients during our sessions.
Through a kind and compassionate approach, I endeavour to develop an authentic connection with my clients and through this process work towards deepening awareness, acceptance and growth. By gently challenging the fixed relational patterns in our lives, and identifying unmet needs, we are able to develop a capacity for change.

We may have behaviours we would like to change or relationships we would like to enrich.
I am trained in EMDR and specialise in trauma recovery. The word trauma means 'wound' or hurt. It is not what happens to us, but what happens inside of us as a result of that hurt. Trauma is the invisible force that shapes our lives. It shapes the way we live, the way we love and the way we make sense of the world. It is the root of our deepest wounds.

Complex trauma often shows up as anxiety, depression, (complex) PTSD, violence, family conflict and relationship difficulties - I work with individuals, couples and families dealing with these challenges.
Complex trauma can lead to challenges engaging in healthy relationships of all types. It can affect our sense of self, limit identity formation and lead us to feel lost. I'll help you understand complex trauma, its effects and how to navigate your way out. Assessment is a core part of my private practice and in the work I do within Education systems.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
