Families and adults come to me for clarity. Often a child is struggling at school, a teenager has hit a wall, or an adult has spent years sensing something was missed. Most of my work is assessment: autism, ADHD, FASD, cognitive, educational, memory, and broader neuropsychological assessment, for every age. I use gold-standard instruments, then take time to explain what the results mean and what to do next. I also work with vulnerable children and families in child protection and out-of-home care, and I see clients for trauma-informed therapy alongside assessment.

Most issues that people experience have their origins in childhood when developmental needs were not met. Most parents mean well and do their best but because our culture is generally ignorant about the early needs of children the child has to learn how to adapt. For example a parent because of their upbringing may be easily angered. One way is for the child to move towards the parent by always trying to please the parent to ward off an angry episode. That is the behavior and the belief is "I have to be good or mummy will not love me." This establishes a mode that may not be helpful in later life in intimate relationships.

Dr Adam McLean
Psychotherapist, PACFA
Sydney, NSW 2000
It is a pleasure to work with men who take the important step in coming to therapy. Traditional gendered roles and societal expectations of men are changing. These changes offer challenges as men come to terms with the issues in a modern era. As an existential psychotherapist I hold the philosophy that all men who come to therapy are seeking to move beyond limitations impacting their lives and to be open to new possibilities and change. I have been working predominantly with gay and same sex attracted men including those men who identify as straight yet want to explore their inner world of relationship, fantasies, and beliefs.
