There's a particular kind of tired that comes from holding it all together on the outside while everything underneath feels like it's barely keeping up. With this can come anxiety, overwhelm, rage, and maybe even a sense of having lost yourself somewhere along the way. I work with women across Cronulla and the Sutherland Shire, in person and online, supporting them to create space for what's been asking to be felt, and find their way back to feeling lighter, more resourced, and more in control. I offer a calm and grounded space for people navigating complexity; both around them and within. Many of the people I work with carry a lot, often quietly. They’re high-functioning, thoughtful, and deeply attuned to the needs of others but can feel unseen, overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve them.

Therapy aims to better understand what's going on in a young person or adult's life that has led to current functioning. This is done through holding curiosity and exploring your early life experiences, family of origin, current context, and identifying your strengths and resources. Together we work on building a unique tool kit to support your care and wellbeing. Therapy takes courage and at times can feel uncomfortable. My aim is to create enough safety and collaboration that we can be open to new ways of seeing things or creating new pathways forward.

Every person's journey is unique, and I like to understand the background and goals of the people I support to ensure together we create a personalised therapy plan tailored to them. I work with adults, and adolescents and I have a strong interest in supporting people navigating anxiety, grief and loss, PTSD, developmental trauma, CTPSD and the myriad of life's challenges. Immediate Availability / Carer Support / Identity, Boundaries and Anxiety. I work with those who feel weighed down by the roles they play - the 'strong one', the selfless Carer, or the tireless professional. Those who visit me often feel a quiet, heavy resentment they’re afraid to admit aloud, maybe through a caring role changing their relationship, or when the mask of keeping it all together starts to crack, leading to burnout, anxiety, or a loss of self. You don't have to keep pretending you have it all under control. Together, we won't just manage your symptoms; we'll uncover the root causes and find a sustainable way forward.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
