I also work with couples who want to reconnect, reduce conflict, and understand the patterns that keep them apart.
I help you make sense of what is happening inside your psychological system and, most importantly, how to shift it in a way that brings greater stability and centred awareness. My primary approach is Internal Family Systems therapy, supported by Metacognitive Therapy, ACT, Jungian-informed work, and hypnosis when appropriate.

I work with adults struggling with relationships and difficult events in their past, trying to understand why anxiety and other intense emotions have such a big impact on their lives, and what they can do about it.
I have been a psychologist for more than 10 years, and I have worked with people from a wide range of nationalities and cultural backgrounds. Since we are all different, some therapeutic approaches that work for certain people won’t work for others. Therefore, I work with each client to understand what works for them and tailor the treatment accordingly.

I am an experienced specialised psychodynamic psychotherapist providing a warm, supportive and non-judgmental space to talk, for individuals and couples.
It can be hard trying to cope on your own. Talking to a trained professional helps you make sense of your thoughts and feelings and it means you have somebody on your side while you face difficult times. My approach is psychodynamic, which means I explore with you both your conscious and your unconscious mind in order to facilitate long-lasting change.

For individuals and couples, I contract with you for an initial set of 5 sessions.
Hi, for the last 20 years I have been working with people who are experiencing challenges in their relationships. Conflict and communication problems often at the heart of these challenges. For many years I saw this when mediating with couples or parents who had decided to separate. Now through counselling I prefer to focus on the source of the problems before its too late. My particular motivation is to prevent conflict having a negative impact on children when they are involved.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
