I support adults, couples and teens experiencing anxiety, relationship difficulties, life transitions and parenting challenges.
Hi, I’m Freya. I work with couples and individuals, with a focus on relationships as central to wellbeing. Drawing on evidence-based Gottman Method and EFT couples therapy principles, I support couples and individuals to strengthen connection, communicate with clarity, and move through conflict more effectively. Clinical training underpins my practice, but motherhood, three children, long term relationships, grief, and unplanned detours have given me wisdom. I’ve learned that hardship is universal, what matters is building the kind of support, both internal and relational, that lets us move through it with honesty and grace.

IFS & trauma informed counselling. I am an advocate for embracing diversity within the human experience. Through Gestalt methodology, I supports individuals to inhabit themselves more fully by building personal awareness and by acting as their anchor for them where things may feel a bit rocky. There is no pressure to fix anything or even have a final destination.

I help people who feel stuck between who they are and who they feel they’re meant to be. Often, this shows up as anxiety, low mood, overthinking, or a sense of dissatisfaction that’s hard to explain. Therapy offers a place to pause, reflect, and understand these patterns—so they no longer quietly run your life. My work is thoughtful, practical, and grounded in evidence-based approaches. I aim to create a calm, respectful space where insight and self-compassion can grow. Together, we focus on understanding your inner world, building emotional awareness, and developing skills that support long-term change—not just symptom relief.

The young people I have helped came to me suffering from anxiety, depression, relationship issues, domestic violence, OCD and ADHD tendencies and low self-esteem.
I help you to understand how your core beliefs about yourself, others and the world cause you unnecessary suffering and how to challenge and replace those beliefs with more healthy ones. I also teach you about the ways our minds work to give you insights into why you do what you do and why you are often not to blame.

I work with self-esteem, anxiety, trauma, sex-related challenges, grief, depression, reactivity, body image & relationship issue and more.
Are you feeling unsure how to move forward? Maybe you're navigating relationship struggles or trying to make sense of your life? Most people come to therapy because they want something to change. But lasting transformation starts with understanding how things are right now. From a young age, our nervous systems adapt to help us navigate the world, creating automatic patterns of feeling and reacting. Whilst they once served us, they can become limiting over time, keeping us stuck in ways that no longer align with who we are or what we need. I am here to help you gently uncover and understand these ingrained patterns.

I provide a safe, supportive and empowering space where you can explore areas of worry, disconnection or uncertainty in your life.
I believe therapy is a combination of gaining practical resources, and a process of uncovering to reveal who we truly are, and have been all along. Given the opportunity to explore your feelings in a safe space, a sense of movement arises, leading to the most beautiful and embodied self-discovery. Compassion for ourselves is a key on this journey home.

I also see young women and LGBTQIA folks struggling with identity politics, relationships, anxiety and selfhood.
Hi, I'm Athena. I'm a counsellor and psychotherapist who runs a very warm, grounded and affirming therapy practice. People I see are often exploring issues of identity, trauma, culture, selfhood, connection, trust and love. I'm a midwife, so work a lot with childbearing women and people, partners, midwives & obstetricians. I originally trained as a person-centred counsellor and a relational psychotherapist, and now incorporate parts work (IFS), somatic approaches, nervous system regulation, and creative practices into our sessions.

Hi, I’m Charmain, a registered art therapist working with communities in the Northern Rivers. I specialise in trauma recovery using a holistic, human-centred approach. Art therapy gently explores emotions that may be difficult to express in words. Trauma can shape self-perception, relationships, and daily life. While some coping mechanisms protect us, some may not always support long-term well-being. My trauma-informed approach prioritises safety, pacing, and meaningful goals towards recovery. No artistic skills or talent is needed.

Anxiety Therapists
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
