You might be starting to feel like something is off, or you're not able to be your true self. Like life is becoming too complex or overwhelming to cope with. You might notice changes in your relationships with loved ones, co-workers, or friends, accompanied with feeling less motivated, connected, or present than you once were. You may have tried turning to the things that once brought you joy, but found limited success and are left feeling burnt out and stuck. You might be able to picture what a balanced life looks like, but struggle with creating real change.

Many people I work with feel stuck, disconnected, or burnt out. They might be dealing with trauma, addiction, relationship stress, or a sense of having lost direction. Some don’t know where to begin only that things can’t keep going the way they have. Whether it’s processing pain, finding meaning, or understanding old patterns, therapy offers a place to slow down and make sense of what’s been happening.

You may appear to be functioning well on the outside. But inside, something still feels unresolved. You've done the reading, perhaps even the therapy, and yet the patterns persist. The weight hasn't lifted. Something deeper is asking to be met. I'm a Clinical Psychologist offering online therapy across Australia, working at the intersection of trauma healing and depth psychology. I draw on EMDR, Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems and somatic approaches to work with the parts of you that talking alone hasn't reached. Not just processing what happened, but exploring who you are becoming.

There are few better places to understand performance, culture, stress & motivation than elite sports.
My focus has long been on elite athletes, helping them to be better at what they do. Success along the way has been amazing, and this will always be part of my DNA. While maintaining my elite sport focus, recently I have pivoted to the student preparing for their biggest performance - the HSC. We expect our teens not only to achieve but to excel. Concentration, stress, anxiety, procrastination, uncertainty, planning issues, and study-life balance are just some of the many barriers we face in this journey. The skills used to manage these are integral to all areas of 'performance' & reaching one's potential in the modern world.

I work with individuals experiencing complex trauma, PTSD, obsessive-compulsive disorder, ADHD, anger and aggression, men's issues, and performance-related concerns, including those in sports and high-functioning professions.
Mental health challenges don’t appear out of nowhere, and they are never just a personal failing. The distress you feel today has roots—shaped by experiences, relationships, and messages you’ve absorbed over time. From childhood, you learned ways to navigate pain, disappointment, or fear, often without even realising it. Whether it was through pushing emotions down, always staying in control, or constantly meeting others’ expectations, these responses were once necessary to ensure you mattered or to prevent pain. But survival isn’t the same as living freely.

Starting therapy isn't an admission of defeat. It's a vote for change. You might be here because something has shifted. A relationship feels complicated. You feel anxious, stuck, or not where you hoped you'd be. Your usual coping strategies aren't working. You're questioning who you are or what comes next. Therapy is a space to take the reins - to gain deeper understanding and move forward with a sense of agency.

I work with young people aged 12–25 and their parents. Some families come to me for the everyday challenges of growing up — anxiety, friendship struggles, low self-esteem, grief, school stress, or not feeling like they belong. Others are in harder territory — withdrawal, school refusal, substance use, rage, or behaviours that keep parents awake at night. Most parents arrive with the same question: Why isn’t what I’m doing working, and how do I reach my kid again? I help families answer that — by decoding what’s driving the behaviour and creating a space young people feel safe enough to do the work.

Sports Performance Therapists
How does sports psychology work?
Sports psychology helps athletes identify and overcome challenges, such as perfectionism or a fear of failure, and improve key mental skills, such as confidence or concentration. By applying principles and techniques from psychology, such as goal-setting, visualisation, positive self-talk, and emotion regulation, sports psychologists help athletes improve their performance on the field and their well-being overall.

How long does treatment for a sports-related problem take?
The duration of sports psychology treatment depends on the athlete’s individual challenges, goals, the complexity of the interventions used, and even on the length of the season. A performance anxiety issue may be treated with a short-term treatment, like Cognitive behavioural therapy, while issues such as depression, substance abuse, or severe anxiety may require longer-term treatments.

How effective is treatment for sports performance problems?
Sports psychology has been shown to improve performance and help athletes manage their emotions. Sports psychology can be effective in boosting performance, team dynamics, and injury rehabilitation. Over the past decade, nearly every professional sports team in every major sport has added a sports psychologist to its staff. Many colleges have done the same, and even some high school programs have done the same. Olympic hopefuls may consult with sports psychologists starting in elementary school.

What are the limitations of sports psychology?
Sports psychology may have several limitations. Every athlete is unique and may respond differently to sports psychology treatments. Therapy can help an athlete reach their potential; it can help athletes cope with injury and pain, but it cannot change the physical limitations that may be affecting an athlete’s performance.
