I especially like working with people who experience social anxiety and clinical hypnosis is a favourite intervention.
I see many clients who feel "stuck" and may need guidance in being able to move forward. I work with clients in exploring what they want to stand for in life, and how to take steps in moving towards their values.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stress, or the daily pressures of life in Illawong or the Sutherland Shire?
I draw on CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) to shift unhelpful thought patterns, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to build psychological flexibility, attachment-based therapy to understand relationship dynamics, and trauma-focused and emotionally focused approaches to process difficult experiences and strengthen connection.

You are not alone in these struggles and you can achieve a life that isn't ruled by feelings of sadness, self doubt, anxiety, disconnect and distress.
You might be starting to feel like something is off, or you're not able to be your true self. Like life is becoming too complex or overwhelming to cope with. You might notice changes in your relationships with loved ones, co-workers, or friends, accompanied with feeling less motivated, connected, or present than you once were. You may have tried turning to the things that once brought you joy, but found limited success and are left feeling burnt out and stuck. You might be able to picture what a balanced life looks like, but struggle with creating real change.

As a fellow ADHD'er, I particularly specialise in AuDHD, as well as anxiety, and childhood trauma.
Heya, I’m Sagar! I understand how nerve-wracking it can be to walk into a psychologist’s office. That’s why I aim to be warm, empathetic and approachable, to build a genuine relationship as the foundation of our therapeutic process. I work across the lifespan, and I love helping clients navigate those big life changes— adolescence into adulthood; career into retirement; or any of those big, overwhelming events that seem to just come with life. My approach is to give clients insight into their thoughts & emotions, warmth and space to help process and heal, then collaboratively create tools and strategies to lay problems to rest.

If you’re navigating life, sexuality, gender, anxiety, trauma, you're existentially lost, or just feeling a bit out of sync, I'm here for a chat.
Hi, I’m Jake (they/he). There's a tonne of therapy buzzwords thrown around these days, words that can feel important and quietly position therapists as the experts on life. That hierarchy is not a great way to start any relationship let alone a therapeutic one. My practice recognises that therapy does not exist outside culture. It is influenced by histories of power and by colonial and capitalist ideas about productivity and normality. I believe we need to name that and recognise the impact of these structures on marginalised bodies, so the work can feel honest rather than performative.

Many people I work with feel stuck, disconnected, or burnt out. They might be dealing with trauma, addiction, relationship stress, or a sense of having lost direction. Some don’t know where to begin only that things can’t keep going the way they have. Whether it’s processing pain, finding meaning, or understanding old patterns, therapy offers a place to slow down and make sense of what’s been happening.

You may appear to be functioning well on the outside. But inside, something still feels unresolved. You've done the reading, perhaps even the therapy, and yet the patterns persist. The weight hasn't lifted. Something deeper is asking to be met. I'm a Clinical Psychologist offering online therapy across Australia, working at the intersection of trauma healing and depth psychology. I draw on EMDR, Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems and somatic approaches to work with the parts of you that talking alone hasn't reached. Not just processing what happened, but exploring who you are becoming.

Are you seeking some support with your mental health, resilience and emotional balance? Are you experiencing some current or past challenges? Life can be full of ups and downs, and I'm here to support you through some of the challenging times. I have a special interest in perinatal psychology, supporting parents from pre-conception through to parenthood. Whilst parenthood can be joyous, the overwhelm of parenthood, adjustment to change and change in relationship dynamics can be tough. Do you have a workers compensation claim, or some workplace concerns? Need some career coaching to support a change in direction?

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
