I am a psychotherapist who works with the person directly in front me. I collaborate with each person to unlock the inner knowing contained within their bodies. Our bodies hold an intuitive wisdom with a huge potential for healing and growth. We only need learn how to communicate the body’s language. Symptoms like depression and anxiety are not treated as problems but rather explored as experiences in the body being communicated. When we meet them as bound up processes that are seeking to be freed, we find these processes have a purpose with our best intentions at heart.

I work with young people aged 12–25 and their parents. Some families come to me for the everyday challenges of growing up — anxiety, friendship struggles, low self-esteem, grief, school stress, or not feeling like they belong. Others are in harder territory — withdrawal, school refusal, substance use, rage, or behaviours that keep parents awake at night.
Most parents arrive with the same question: Why isn’t what I’m doing working, and how do I reach my kid again? I help families answer that — by decoding what’s driving the behaviour and creating a space young people feel safe enough to do the work.

Something feels off in the way you relate to people.
You might find yourself second-guessing what you say, holding things back, or trying to get it right so things don’t go wrong. You might also find yourself overthinking, trying to work out whether your reactions make sense, or if you’re overdoing it. Other times, you shut down, pull back, or feel flat.
Either way, it’s hard to feel like yourself.
You might already understand some of this. It just doesn’t shift.

People who feel stuck in repeating patterns, disconnected in relationships, or unsure how to move forward often come to see me. You might notice you overthink, shut down, react quickly, or feel not quite like yourself. Many clients are navigating the impact of past experiences, even if they wouldn’t call it trauma. Couples often feel caught in the same arguments or distance and want to understand what’s happening underneath and find a different way forward.

How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
