Hi, I'm Curtis, a psychologist and psychotherapist working from the Blue Mountains, in-person and online. Often the things that bring us to therapy are the very things we've spent years trying to outrun. Sometimes it's a crisis. Sometimes just a quiet sense that something isn't working. Whatever brings you here, I want you to know that what you're experiencing makes sense, and that real change is possible. My approach is integrative and holistic. I work with you as a whole person, your inner world, your body, your relationships, your sense of meaning and identity. I target core issues, rather than treating a set of symptoms.

I like to take a psychodynamic approach, often relying on the foundations of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy ( DBT).
Hi, my name is Nadine. I'm a psychologist and psychotherapist. I believe that our relationship with ourselves is the single most important relationship we will hold throughout our lifetime. For this reason, my work focuses on how to have a better relationship with ourselves and live a life in line with our values and goals. In doing so, I hope to make my role redundant as you gain the skills needed to withstand any challenge and obstacle you may face throughout your life. I hope that I can be a part of your recovery and growth to better mental health.

I work with adults navigating trauma and complex trauma, including attachment trauma. Many of the people I see come in because of what trauma looks like day to day — perfectionism, burnout, people-pleasing, anxiety, or relationship patterns that keep repeating. Others come in through GP referral with more acute presentations. My main approach is Internal Family Systems (IFS), alongside Schema Therapy, ACT and CBT. Together we work to understand the patterns keeping you stuck, build a clearer sense of what matters to you, and find ways forward that feel sustainable — so you can feel less driven by old patterns and more like yourself.

Drawing on EMDR, mindfulness, DBT, and narrative therapy, I help clients better understand themselves, build resilience, and create meaningful change.
Welcome to You are Here Therapy. Some people call it trauma. Others call it a difficult experience or a painful chapter they can't seem to move past. Whatever you call it, its effects can linger, shaping how you see yourself, relate to others, and navigate life. Sometimes it's a current stressor that feels overwhelming. Sometimes it's the past showing up in the present. I support adults of all backgrounds and genders, with a particular affinity for working with gay men. Together, we'll make sense of your story, build resilience, and create meaningful change. Your past may shape your story, but it doesn't have to write your future.

Dialectical Behaviour (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behaviour and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behaviour, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioural change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behaviour; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
