My ideal client is someone who feels overwhelmed by life's demands yet yearns for a sense of clarity, peace, and purpose. They might be experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship issues or navigating a major life transition that feels daunting. They are seeking not only to alleviate immediate distress but to foster lasting personal growth. They want more than symptom relief—they’re eager to understand the “why” behind their feelings, patterns, and reactions. They desire tools and strategies to manage their emotions, communicate effectively, and ultimately build a life that aligns with their true values.

Perhaps you’re trying to live life in a world that doesn’t feel okay. Your mind doesn’t switch off. You overthink things, feel stuck in familiar patterns, or are hard on yourself no matter how much you do. You might feel disconnected, burnt out or quietly struggling with the weight of life and the world around you. I work with people who feel deeply & think deeply - people trying to cope with anxiety, emotional overwhelm, burnout, relationship challenges, grief or the sense that they’ve lost touch with themselves while still trying to keep going. This is not about labelling you or “fixing” you.

I am a therapist specialising in assisting clients who have physical and psychological symptoms relating to traumas that they have experienced in their lives. These may be relatively discrete traumas such as a car accident, or they may be complex traumas sustained over time including from early childhood. When we experience trauma both our body and our mind remember what has happened. We try to make sense of what has happened and develop "apps" to deal with and respond to similar situations. These apps can however become problematic, particularly if they are accidentally opening all the time. We call this being "Triggered".

I specialise in combining EMDR and Schema Therapy in an intensive format. This approach is suitable for most people and is particularly beneficial for people who are looking to get fast symptom relief from PTSD, complex PTSD related to adverse childhood experiences, phobias, anxiety, complex grief, and depression. With this model you can expect to achieve more than you would in conventional therapy, so it is more time and cost effective. We get really specific about your goals and stay targeted on moving though the 8 phases of EMDR processing, thereby doing deep lasting work so you can move forward.

I work with adults who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected, often living with anxiety, low mood, past trauma, or relationship struggles that don’t seem to shift. You might look like you’re coping, but inside feel exhausted or self-critical. Therapy with me is a space where you don’t have to hold it together. I integrate talk-based and body-aware (somatic) practices to help you understand your emotions, relate to yourself with compassion, and create meaningful, lasting change. So you can feel more at home in yourself, even in the midst of life’s challenges.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
