Dialectical Behaviour (DBT) Psychologists and Therapists in Kirrawee, NSW
I offer evidence-based psychological treatment using CBT, DBT, ACT, and schema-informed approaches, tailored to each person rather than applied generically.
I work with adults and adolescents navigating complex presentations; like eating disorders, trauma, personality difficulties, men's mental health, and LGBTQIA+ concerns. I also see NDIS participants and Defence personnel through the ADF. Many clients have tried general support and found it hasn't touched what they're actually dealing with; others can't access quality care where they live. Telehealth bridges that gap across regional and remote Australia. My sessions are collaborative, goal-focused, and evidence-based with an aim to build your capacity to manage your own wellbeing, in a space that is genuinely non-judgemental.

Life can get heavy. Maybe you’re carrying something from your past that won’t let you rest, feeling disconnected from the people you love, or just running on empty and not quite sure how you got here. Whatever’s brought you to this moment — you don’t have to face it alone.
Trix Harvey is a counsellor who genuinely cares about the people she works with. With 10 years of experience — including specialised work with refugee trauma — she brings both warmth and deep expertise to every session. Her areas of focus include anxiety, trauma recovery, and relationship issues, and she works with each person as a whole: mind, body, and spirit.

My approach informed by many modalities including expressive therapies (such as art therapy), DBT, somatic therapy and mindfulness.
I’m a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist registered with PACFA. I don’t believe in clinical distance or wearing a mask of expertise that puts me above you. I meet you human-to-human — with empathy, honesty, and care. My approach is holistic and integrative, meaning I tailor our work to suit you, not the other way around. Together, we create a space where it’s safe to feel, to speak, to unravel — and ultimately, to grow. I bring both evidence-based modalities and deep compassion to each session, weaving in practices that support not only the mind, but the body, heart, and soul.

Sometimes the hardest part isn't knowing that something is wrong; it's understanding why you keep finding yourself in the same place.
You may look like you're coping on the outside while feeling exhausted, disconnected, or stuck on the inside. Maybe anxiety has become your constant companion, relationships keep following familiar patterns, you're carrying the weight of past experiences, or you're navigating a life transition that has left you questioning who you are. Therapy with me isn't about fixing you because I don't believe you're broken. It's about making sense of your experiences, understanding the patterns.

Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.
Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behaviour and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.
What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behaviour, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioural change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behaviour; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
