I have undertaken a number of additional trainings: Levels 1 and 2 Gottman Method Couples therapy, ASIST suicide prevention training, DV alert - domestic violence awareness and support training along with many others.
I support women in mid-life to find a new way through all the hard feelings and experiences that keep showing up. Maybe you've been on a quest for self improvement and greater self understanding. You've read the books, joined the groups, listened to the podcasts—you can “let them” like a pro (or at least wish you could). But deep down, something still feels off. Relationships aren't working, you struggle to express yourself and the weight of old wounds, self-doubt, and a quiet, unnameable pain lingers, leaving you wondering if this is just your lot in life.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of walking alongside individuals as they navigate challenges like addiction, domestic violence, personality disorders, and acute mental health struggles. I am deeply committed to creating a safe, trauma-informed, and non-judgmental space where people feel heard, valued, and empowered. Therapy should be a place of trust and connection, free from stigma or shame. No matter where someone is in their journey, my goal is to support them in finding hope, clarity, and the tools they need to move forward with confidence and self-compassion.

Specialised training in addition to my degree, every year, including trauma, family and domestic violence, and substance abuse, as well as varied modalities.
Sometimes life feels like it is getting out of hand. You are transitioning through different phases of life and your expectations are changing as you do. You are frustrated that things are not going the way you had hoped or planned, and you aren't sure why? You may not be connected in the ways you'd like with your family or friends, so you don't have the personal support network that people are designed to rely upon. You wonder how other people manage and you feel like you should be, too...but you don't feel like you have any control and you aren't sure how to create meaningful change. You just need some help without judgement.

Domestic Abuse Counsellors

What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?

Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognise that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?

Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?

Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?

It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
