I worked as an individual, couples and family therapist in none government organisations and private practice for 8 years.
I'm a person-centred, somatically informed therapist working in this field for the past 8 years. You might be a good fit with me if you're curious about understanding yourself and what’s really going on around you — but find that it's complex, overwhelming, or anxiety-inducing to try. I worked extensively with complex PTSD, DV, attachment issues, parenting, depression, separation, addiction, and more. Though sometimes it can feel like things can't possibly change, I find my clients picking up pieces of themselves along the way, and so when things fall apart again, we both know that none of them were ever truly lost.

Welcome - I’m Alex, a counsellor working together with people who sense there is more beneath the surface. My practice is grounded in the belief that our painful emotions and struggles offer us unique opportunities for growth, if we turn towards them and listen. As such, I offer an explorative approach to therapy - one which invites you to deeply acquaint yourself with your inner world rather than to suppress it. This process requires courage, but in a trusting and safe relationship, it can gradually foster lasting inner change.

This space is welcoming to children, teens, individuals, couples, and families—regardless of identity, background, or relationship configuration.
When people reach out to me, it’s usually after trying to hold everything together for far too long. Maybe you’re feeling emotionally drained, stuck in the same arguments with your partner, or deeply concerned about your child’s anxiety, anger, or school refusal. Sometimes there’s no big crisis—just a quiet sense that something’s not right. Life feels heavy, and it’s hard to enjoy the things that should bring joy. As a clinical counsellor—and also a wife and mother, daughter, sister—I understand how complex and layered our struggles can be.

FAQ - About Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
