By the time many people find me, they're often exhausted. They've worked incredibly hard to feel better, yet something still isn't shifting. Many have tried therapy, read the books, practised mindfulness, or explored nervous system and body-based approaches. Some things may even have helped for a while. But life still feels harder than it should. If you're wondering why you're still struggling, you're not alone. I work with people who are tired of fighting themselves and ready for a different approach.

I specialise in behavioural/process addictions, compulsive sexual behaviour, love and relationship addiction, codependency, shame, and intimacy difficulties.
Many of the people I work with feel stuck in patterns they don’t fully understand. On the outside they’re capable and high‑functioning. On the inside they’re using sex, porn, dating, love, work, gambling, gaming, control, or emotional distance to cope with stress, shame, loneliness, or relationship pain. These behavioural or “process” addictions bring short‑term relief but often create more secrecy, disconnection, and repeated relationship struggles. Together we explore the childhood wounds that sit underneath these patterns and begin to build healthier ways of coping and relating.

You’re used to handling things and being the one others rely on. On the outside, life looks fine. Underneath, something feels heavier than it needs to be. You might notice your mind staying busy, your body holding tension, or a sense of pressure that doesn’t really switch off. Many of the people I work with are balancing work, relationships, and responsibilities while carrying more than they show. Counselling gives you space to slow down, untangle what’s happening beneath the surface, and begin to relate to yourself and others with more clarity, choice, and self-trust.

Life doesn't always go as we plan. We can end up experiencing relationship struggles or abuse, find it difficult to get past grief and loss, find ourselves relying on substances or other addictive behaviours to get by. We may experience depression or anxiety, or wake up one morning and realise that for whatever reason, things that used to work for us are just not working anymore. We may feel exhausted or empty or disappointed and not really know why. Whether you are battling a long term problem or experiencing a new and unexpected struggle, we can support and equip you through empathetic and confidential counselling.

Do you feel fundamentally broken? Do you find yourself falling back into people pleasing or controlling behaviours, even though you really want to change them? Do you keep finding yourself in relationships with the same sorts of people or in the same type of dynamic? Lasting change can be possible by being gently curious about what parts are bringing us back into our old patterns, and what beliefs or emotions those parts carry. With practice and insight, you can be aware which parts are driving your actions and compassionately make new choices.

Chana - Couple and Relationship Therapist
Social Worker, MA, AASW
Sydney, NSW 2000
Hello I am Chana, I work with couples and individuals who feel stuck in repeating relationship patterns - the same arguments, the same disconnections, the same sense of not quite being heard or understood. Often, the problem isn’t a lack of love, but getting caught in cycles that leave everyone feeling frustrated, defensive, or alone. As a Couple, Family, and Relationship Therapist, I support people navigating ongoing conflict, breakdowns in communication, emotional distance, and the aftermath of ruptures in trust.

Codependency Therapists
What therapy types help with codependency problems?
Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?
Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?
Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?
One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
