I believe the client is the expert in their lives, not myself. As such I approach each person with respectful curiosity so that we can work together to create an individually tailored treatment plan. Where people are struggling with shame or guilt, or are tired of telling their story yet again, we can work 'blind to therapist', where I don't need to know the full ins and outs of the issues people are struggling with.

My clients encompass a diverse group. They often struggle with substance and behavioural addictions, trauma, attachment issues and co-dependency. They may be facing the challenges of aging or are a part of the farming community. Their common needs include navigating life transitions, reducing harmful habits, fostering healthy relationships and boundaries, boosting self-esteem and finding relational and social support. Ultimately, they desire to move from mere survival to seeking a fulfilling and balanced life.

If you’re here, it’s likely because you’re navigating one of the most intense and transformative times of your life—whether that’s trying to conceive, experiencing a loss, going through pregnancy, or adjusting to the early days of parenthood. It’s a journey filled with joy, anticipation, and sometimes, overwhelming challenges. You might be looking for a place where you can catch your breath, feel understood, and get the support you need. I want you to know that you’re not alone. I’ve been where you are, feeling the weight of uncertainty, the hurt, the emotional ups and downs, and the need for someone who really gets it.

Sandtray therapy is for all individuals aged 3 through to adulthood. It is for clients who have experienced/are experiencing trauma, loss, anxiety, depression, behavioural and emotional difficulties, neurodivergent individuals and/or speech/communication issues. Sandtray therapy is a whole brain expressive form of psychotherapy/counselling, led by the individual. Clients learn to explore and process their internal feelings, emotions trauma and grief when they build ‘sand worlds’ (placing and arranging objects, symbols and miniatures in a tray of sand).

I believe we all have capacity to deal with issues we meet along the way, however sometimes we get out of touch with that part of ourselves. I love to work together with clients to help them get back to that part of themselves, to be able to Identify what is stopping them from reaching their goals. Often it’s things we believe about ourselves from our past, which are not always true. Beliefs about self-worth, not being good enough, not being loveable! These negative beliefs about ourselves may have been formed in childhood or in relationships that have been unhealthy. I am able to work with you, collaboratively, to achieve your goal

Art Therapy is my primary treatment method: a gentle and considered way to explore challenges and issues. I always speak about the 3 E's that you will encounter as we work together. AT is emergent, experiential & embodied. It is more than talk therapy alone. Through creative processes we can locate and reconsider experiences not easily put into words. I enjoy holding space to share your thoughts, feelings and future ambitions visually. As a lived experience practitioner with a history of recovery, I understand how challenging it can be to seek support, but welcome folks trying a session to see if you find my style a good fit.

I have a strong and passionate skillset for journeying with women as they transition through big changes.
My focus is to help individuals develop their inner strengths, create resources, find balance and rekindle their passion for life. I am interested in meeting people from all walks of life and will treat a number of mental health challenges and relationship issues. I have a special interest and background in supporting women through motherhood. Destructive self-beliefs and turmoil in intimate relationships can create depression, anxiety, obsessive thinking and actions, lack of motivation, ambivalence, guilt, shame and anger. By co-creating a healthy therapeutic relationship we enable you to engage dynamically in the world.

We all need support, no-one can do life on their own. For 20 years I have been supporting people dealing with life issues. When we build a solid foundation from the ground up, we can let go of the overwhelm, from there we are just moving along the conveyer belt dealing with life as it gets presented. Building a solid foundation that can withstand the hick-ups. The more we choose to deal with the more solid our foundation becomes. This is where the work begins.

I work to uncover and transform the issues which underlie the anxiety or depression rather than just treat the symptoms. These are usually wounds from childhood which we were unable to deal with as they occurred. I also work with trauma, initially to stabilise and build trust, moving onto trauma processing. I am inspired and intrigued by my clients creativity and spontaneity and always try to connect with where they're at, seeing the person as part of a whole system. I believe that healing comes from the client, I am just a facilitator.

As your psychologist, I work collaboratively with you to help you pursue a more fulfilling life. That means understanding your needs and therapy preferences and involving you in all decisions about your personalised treatment plan. My compassionate approach means you can trust me to listen without judgement and use evidence-based therapy to help you develop your self-awareness and confidence. The therapies I draw on are strength-based so they emphasise your resilience and resourcefulness in the face of adversity.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
