I support clients who may feel misunderstood by traditional models of mental health care, particularly those who (like me) are Neurodivergent, Queer, Chronically ill & Disabled. I typically work with clients who are navigating burnout, emotional overwhelm, life transitions, relationship or workplace challenges, substance use concerns, anxiety, mood swings or existential crisis. I am honoured to walk alongside my clients helping them to make meaning, heal hurt, find their spark, cope with suffering, and come home to themselves. My work is guided by my values of authenticity, connection, humour, agency, and joy.

My aim in offering clinical psychological treatment services is to help adults with understanding, managing and resolving their distress and confusion, whether from depression, anxiety, chronic health issues (including chronic pain), relationship difficulties, grief and loss, workplace injuries or adjusting to life stressors. We all might want to turn away from our problems but they can be a doorway to learning how to live a better life, if we turn towards them and seek out the mental health support we need and deserve. Find out the difference it can make.

I love my work. I have been a practicing Psychologist for the last 13 years, working in addictions and trauma in public health. I have worked with people from a variety of backgrounds, which has given me a thorough understanding of the complexity of problems that people experience. My skill lies in helping people understand the issues they bring to therapy, so that we can work together on evidence based solutions to solve them. I also like to think that I bring a friendly and personable approach to this process, making therapy a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

You might be feeling stuck, anxious, or a bit lost - doing your best to keep going but ready for something to shift. My clients often crave being calm, connected, and having space to just be themselves. Together we slow things down, explore what’s underneath, and use creativity and nature to find steadiness and clarity again. Therapy doesn’t have to feel clinical - it can feel human, grounding and real.

I'm Marlee (she/they) and I provide online therapy across Australia for women, trans, and non-binary adults who are queer or questioning, neurodivergent, and ready to make sense of their burnout, identity, and relationships. It's important for you to know that you are not broken. Becoming clearer on who you actually are can feel disorienting, lonely, and exhausting. My job isn't to give you more coping skills or track symptoms. It's to help you connect with who you are and clear the barriers that got in the way.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
