You’ve tried to make sense of it. The same pattern keeps appearing — a relationship that starts well but then unravels, an anxiety that won’t settle, a low mood that keeps coming back, or a feeling that despite everything going well on paper, something still feels off. I’m an experienced Psychologist and Psychotherapist working with people who want to understand what’s actually driving their difficulties, not just manage them.

People may seek therapy when the impact of life’s demands, past experiences, or protective patterns starts to exceed capacity, and that strain shows up as disconnection—potentially from purpose, from the body, or from relationships. You may be carrying the effects of painful or overwhelming experiences that still shape how you feel and relate today. Reaching out is a significant step, and you don’t have to work out the next ones alone. I offer compassionate, collaborative therapy informed by years of clinical experience, extensive training, and my work as a facilitator and trainer with the Blue Knot Foundation.

Life doesn’t always unfold the way we expect. Relationships change, stress builds, or past experiences begin to surface in ways we didn’t anticipate. Many of the people I work with feel overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted, or stuck in patterns that are hard to shift on their own. Some are navigating difficult relationships, trauma, life transitions, or simply a sense that something isn’t working anymore. Therapy can be a space to slow things down, make sense of what you’ve been carrying, and begin moving forward with more clarity and support.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioural Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
