My life experience has equipped me to help others experiencing depression , addiction and social isolation issues.
Today, many men are confused about our role and relevance in society. A clear sense of manhood, is I believe, critical to healthy relationships between men and women; men and other men; and obviously men as parents. I believe that my personal experiences are relevant here. Over many years, as parent, partner, friend and colleague, I have learned from my many mistakes and now feel that in a non-judgmental and collaborative way, I have something to offer both men and women in this regard. I believe that therapy is the best way to find out about oneself, that we are all unique and that each person’s life pathway is intensely personal

Many different events will impact our lives, most of the time we can deal with them, other times we cannot. A difficult childhood, the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, an illness or accident, a toxic work environment, sexuality & gender, unemployment, the current pandemic affecting our world or just being at a new stage of our lives can cause us to feel lost within ourselves and the wider world. This can lead to anxiety or depression , it can affect our self-esteem and disconnect us from everyone around us, leaving us isolated and alone.

You have anxiety, maybe depression , definitely stress.
To other people you appear to be fine, however, on the inside, it feels like a completely different story. You get caught up in internal battles with your own mind, questioning your decisions, second-guessing yourself, overthinking things, and feeling lost, anxious, depressed . It's exhausting. You want to make changes and you are sick of feeling anxious, it is interfering in your life, your work, your relationships. You want things to be different. I can help you sort through the stories, the experiences that have led to this, and to change your old patterns, thoughts, and beliefs, and create the life that you want to live.

Whether it is through therapy or through psychological testing, my passion is helping individuals understand themselves. My ideal client is someone who is very motivated to make change and committed to the process. A special interest of mine is seeing individuals who are uncertain or have given up on psychologists being able to help. The primary things that I work with in my current role is therapy around mood regulation (whether it is anxiety, depression or panic) or whether it is assessing whether someone has a neurodevelopment disorder (ADHD, Dyslexia, intellectual disability etc).

Depression Counsellors
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy by depression counsellors in Crows Nest. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
