Therapy is collaborative and personalised rather than one-size-fits-all and integrates evidence-based and experiential approaches including somatic and mindfulness-based therapies, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Compassion Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy, ACT, CBT, and psychodrama, tailoring the work to your goals and readiness.
I am a registered Medicare and NDIS provider offering psychology and counseling sessions either in-person or on-line across Australia, including rural and remote areas. I work with people who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected — often shaped by complex trauma, neurodivergence, long-standing emotional patterns, chronic health challenges, life transitions, or relationship stress. I am sensitive to cross cultural and LGBTQIA+ needs in therapy. I work holistically recognising that healing involves the mind, body, relationships, sense of meaning, your nervous system, strengths and needs.

I integrate ACT and somatic-focused work depending on what the presentation calls for.
I work with adults who feel stuck, particularly where previous therapy has helped but not fully resolved things. This often includes trauma, anxiety, or workplace stress that continues to resurface in similar ways. The focus is on changing the underlying pattern, not just how you react to it. My approach is structured and collaborative, focused on processing experiences while maintaining stability. We work at a pace that feels manageable, adapting within the session to what works best for you, with you remaining grounded and in control throughout.

I work with Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic and body-based therapy, Gottman Method, ACT, attachment-based and expressive therapies.
There's a particular kind of tired that comes from holding it all together on the outside while everything underneath feels like it's barely keeping up. With this can come anxiety, overwhelm, rage, and maybe even a sense of having lost yourself somewhere along the way. I work with women across Cronulla and the Sutherland Shire, in person and online, supporting them to create space for what's been asking to be felt, and find their way back to feeling lighter, more resourced, and more in control. My main therapy is Internal Family Systems (working with parts), interwoven with Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (body focussed somatic therapy) and DBR (Deep Brain Orienting).
I work to uncover and transform the issues which underlie the anxiety or depression rather than just treat the symptoms. These are usually wounds from childhood which we were unable to deal with as they occurred. I also work with trauma, initially to stabilise and build trust, moving onto trauma processing. I am inspired and intrigued by my clients creativity and spontaneity and always try to connect with where they're at, seeing the person as part of a whole system. I believe that healing comes from the client, I am just a facilitator.

If you’re seeking complex trauma therapy integrating IFS and somatic practices, I welcome you to reach out to see if we’re a good fit
You might be living with the impact of complex trauma - feeling on edge, emotionally overwhelmed, shut down, or stuck in patterns that don’t make sense. Maybe you’ve done therapy before and understand your story, but your nervous system still reacts as if the danger is present. I work with adults healing from complex trauma (CPTSD), developmental trauma, and repeated relational wounds. My approach integrates mind and body - supporting both insight and nervous system regulation so change feels sustainable, not forced. Trauma doesn’t only live in memory. It lives in the body and in protective patterns that once helped you survive.

J Adrian Schep— When people first reach out, they often describe feeling desperate, angry, overwhelmed, lost. Some are even afraid to begin, unsure what they will uncover. You may feel as though your life has unravelled, that you no longer belong, or that something essential has been lost. Reaching out often comes at a point where you want to be heard without judgement, to make sense of what has happened, and to find a way forward with steadiness and clarity.

A life event that destabilises us can create all range of emotions and behavioural responses without our awareness and in turn, cause additional distress to your life. When we feel threatened, challenged or overwhelmed - our behaviours, feelings and thoughts can be all consuming. Without emotional processing and resolving the distress can form unhealthy maladaptive responses and associations. Engaging in professional help to support you through these events can provide you adaptive ways to respond to your world. Be brave and reach out.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
