All of us go through a range of emotions, thoughts, doubts, and hopes in life. In the complex and transient layers of people and events, we often find ourselves in a difficult situation where nothing much we do seems to help. Please remember you are not alone and that you are not your problem nor diagnosis.

The climate and ecological crisis can cause a range of mental health issues including, grief, anxiety, trauma, and feelings of anger and despair. However, it can also prompt people to re-evaluate their lives, vision meaningful change, and turn sadness into positive life-affirming action. I acknowledge the legitimacy and complicated nature of the human response to the climate crisis; I don't presume the presence or absence of climate-related distress in my client but understand how relationships to nature, living systems, scientific evidence, and media coverage of climate change can help integrate and resolve psychological stressors.

You may be high-functioning on the outside yet overwhelmed on the inside — caught in perfectionism, overthinking or self-doubt. You might struggle with anxiety, people-pleasing, boundaries or feeling “not enough,” even though you appear capable to others. Perhaps you're exploring identity (personal, relational, cultural, professional or gender-related), navigating relationship or attachment patterns, or noticing the effects of childhood emotional neglect or emotionally immature parents. You want clarity, confidence and lasting change. Syné Collective is a warm and intentional space where you can explore this, free of judgement.

Seeking help from a psychologist could be overwhelming and stressful. It may be seen as a sign of weakness or suggest that there is something wrong with the person. My professional aim is to assist the person seeking help in a collaborative, compassionate and authentic manner, in a therapeutic space where personal issues are viewed as opportunities to discover personal strengths, to foster personal growth and improve quality of life. I am deeply committed to empower individuals in overcoming the social stigma associated with mental health issues and I value each person’s uniqueness during their engagement in mental health recovery.

I’m a Gestalt therapist with over 8 years of experience.
We all have our reasons for seeking therapy—maybe you’re feeling stuck, lonely, or need a bit of direction in life. Whatever your reason, know that it comes from a desire to make a change and improve the aspects of your life that no longer serve you. Taking that first step to reach out can be a little scary, but it’s also an incredible display of courage. I genuinely believe everyone wants to be heard, seen, and accepted just as they are. Therapy offers a welcoming space to find acceptance and lead a more fulfilling life.

I take an integrated approach using therapies such as psychoanalysis, person-centred, and Gestalt Therapy.
There are times in our lives when we get that sinking feeling that something is not right. Such moments often follow major life events, such as grieving for a loved one, the break-up of a relationship, moving countries, facing health issues or even children leaving home and retirement. Other times, they appear from nowhere. Resulting feelings can be so pervasive that they impact our mental, emotional and physical well-being, creating conflict in relationships and impact our ability to function. They may also start manifesting in one’s seeking isolation, inability to see joy in life and can lead to depressive conditions.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, tired, hopeless or lacking joy; like your emotions are uncontrollable or that they do not match with reality; that your worry is getting out of hand or that there is no longer any point, then it might be a good time to seek some support. We are social creatures, and despite what our modern society might have us believe, we all need human connection to function. Seeking support is a huge sign of strength – the strength to actually reach out and let someone in, in order to start the healing process. If you can relate to this or if you have set yourself a personal development goal please reach out.

Gestalt Therapists

What is gestalt therapy?

Gestalt therapy is based on the idea that to address unresolved negative feelings, emotions must be not only discussed but also actively expressed in the present moment. The term is from a German word meaning “whole,” and gestalt therapists believe that people should be considered whole entities made up of mind, body, and emotions. Gestalt sessions are rooted in the notion that a client’s total self must be discovered, explored, and confronted, so that they can take greater responsibility for themselves and their behaviour, learn to satisfy their own needs while still respecting the needs of others, and reconnect with feelings they might otherwise deny.

How does gestalt therapy work?

Gestalt therapy sessions do not just involve talking with a therapist. Clients may take part in role-playing, re-enactment, or artistic exercises like drawing and painting, with the goal of becoming more aware of negative thought patterns that limit happiness. One common gestalt exercise is “the empty chair,” in which a client sits across from an empty chair representing a partner, relative, boss, or a part of themselves—and, with the therapist’s encouragement, improvises a dialog with it. The intention is to bring the emotions raised by past conflicts into the present and work through them in the moment.

How long does gestalt therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for gestalt therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. New patients should understand that it may take some time to become comfortable with gestalt exercises but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions.

Does gestalt therapy work?

Gestalt therapy has generally been found to be as effective as other forms of talk therapy in helping people living with anxiety, depression, phobias, bipolar disorder, and substance use disorders, as well as helping individuals reduce conflict in relationships. Gestalt techniques, on their own or in combination with other therapies, can also be effective in managing physical ailments including ulcerative colitis, migraines, and back spasms. It should be noted that some people may have trouble adapting to gestalt therapy’s lack of formal structure or to a therapist’s close observations of their body language and emotions; others may struggle to commit to techniques that feel unnatural, like the empty chair exercise.
