Building the relationship between the parent and the child is part of her approach.
My particular expertise is in working with parents, young people and children. My counselling style uses creative and expressive arts allowing children to build coping strategies, create an awareness of their body responses to stress and to help make meaning of their experiences. The outdoors may be incorporated into the session, by wandering through local parks when the weather suits.

I completed my Bachelor of Social Work at University of New England in 2018, after a very long 8 years and experiencing my own difficult parenting journey.
If you’re here, it’s likely because you’re navigating one of the most intense and transformative times of your life—whether that’s trying to conceive, experiencing a loss, going through pregnancy, or adjusting to the early days of parenthood. It’s a journey filled with joy, anticipation, and sometimes, overwhelming challenges. You might be looking for a place where you can catch your breath, feel understood, and get the support you need. I want you to know that you’re not alone. I’ve been where you are, feeling the weight of uncertainty, the hurt, the emotional ups and downs, and the need for someone who really gets it.

Let’s face it, parenting can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re trying to balance understanding your child’s needs with everything life throws your way.
I’ve spent years working with neurodivergent young people and their families as an inclusive educator and now I bring that experience into my counselling work. I get it. Life can feel like a juggling act, especially when you’re trying to navigate school, relationships and the world’s expectations.

Hi, I’m Jack. I am a psychotherapist, educator, father and long term partner and I came to this work through my own experiences with therapy. I have come to trust that both acceptance and change are possible in our lives. There are many reasons we may begin therapy; we may long for change or hope for opportunities for healing, growth and transformation. Whether there is a particular thing you are struggling with, a need for greater support, or an interest in deepening self-awareness, I can support you on your journey.

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
