Life can be hard as it is, then it can feel like the universe throws you a curveball. Whether it be dealing with relationships, conflicts, life transitions, or figuring out who you want to be; therapy can be the first step to getting you in the right direction. I believe that there is no issue too small, they are all worth exploring. Taking the person-centered approach means I tap into where you're at and finding the right support for you. I work with you to highlight your strengths, build confidence and the autonomy to jump into the driver's seat, to make decisions about your life.

I’m Tyla, a psychologist with lived experience and a passion for helping people understand the way their unique brain works. I focus on neurodiversity-affirming assessments and support for children, teens, and adults, both in person and online. I have a special interest in assessing the more internalized presentations of Adhd and autism. My approach is strengths-based, collaborative, and respectful of each individual’s lived experience, including the ways we mask, cope, and thrive in a world that often wasn’t designed for neurodivergent minds.

Many people I work with feel stuck, disconnected, or burnt out. They might be dealing with trauma, addiction, relationship stress, or a sense of having lost direction. Some don’t know where to begin only that things can’t keep going the way they have. Whether it’s processing pain, finding meaning, or understanding old patterns, therapy offers a place to slow down and make sense of what’s been happening.

My work focuses on how early life experiences, childhood trauma, and subtle social conditioning shape our adult patterns, including anxiety, low self-worth, relationship difficulties, and repeating behaviours that no longer serve us.
Therapy with me is collaborative, safe, and paced according to your needs. I don’t believe in pushing or pathologising. Instead, we work with curiosity, compassion, and respect for your nervous system and life experience. My role is to help you understand why you feel the way you do, so change feels natural rather than forced.

I’m Jemima, a registered counsellor in Caringbah, Sutherland Shire. I support women who are carrying a lot - often holding everything together on the outside, while inside feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stretched thin, or quietly exhausted. You might be navigating anxiety, burnout, grief, parenting pressures, perfectionism, relationship strain… or simply a season of life that feels heavier than you expected. If you’re used to being the capable or dependable one, counselling can be a place where you don’t have to keep yourself held together. My experience spans community counselling, bereavement care, hospitals, and crisis support.

I see children, adolescents, and adults with ADHD or autistic profiles who feel misunderstood, overwhelmed, or worn down by systems that weren’t designed for them. They may be navigating anxiety, burnout, emotional regulation challenges, identity questions, or life transitions. They want to better understand themselves, feel accepted rather than “fixed,” and build confidence in how their brain works. Their goal is to live a life that feels calmer, more meaningful, and aligned with their values, using strengths-based, practical strategies that genuinely fit them. I too am a mum of two and am also proudly neurodivergent myself.

Self Esteem Therapists
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
