My own journey with an eating disorder has deeply shaped the way I practice today.
In our work together, you can expect warmth, honesty, and a space that feels safe to be real, no judgment, no pressure, just compassion and curiosity. I’ll help you make sense of what’s driving your eating disorder, reconnect with your body’s wisdom, and build new ways of coping that feel aligned with who you truly are.

My professional background spans schools, hospitals, and specialist eating disorder services, giving me a broad understanding of the many factors that influence mental health and wellbeing.
Many parents and young people reach out when adolescence or early adulthood begins to feel challenging or unsteady, and emotions become difficult to manage alone. I offer a safe, supportive space where teenagers and young adults can feel understood and accepted, without pressure to have everything figured out. Together, we explore what may be contributing to their distress, build practical coping skills, and support the development of confidence, emotional balance, and self-acceptance.

I provide soul-centered psychotherapy for eating disorders, complex trauma (childhood emotional neglect) and not feeling good enough.
You may look like you’re coping, but inside you feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or not good enough. You might turn to food for comfort, control, or relief, then feel shame, guilt, or self-criticism afterwards. Many of the women I work with carry the impact of early trauma, emotional neglect, or difficult mother–daughter relationships that continue to shape how they feel about themselves. Some feel stuck in patterns they don’t understand, while others are quietly asking, “who am I, really?” and longing for a deeper, more meaningful connection with themselves, their body, and their inner world.

Medicare rebates are available with a valid Mental Health Care Plan, Eating Disorder Treatment Plan, or Enhanced Primary Care Plan from your GP.
My clients are often high-functioning adults who have spent years managing, achieving, and holding it together — and have reached a point where that's no longer enough. They may be dealing with anxiety, depression, burnout, or trauma, or struggling with difficulties that haven't fully resolved with shorter-term support. Many have delayed seeking help; some have tried therapy before without lasting change. I offer a collaborative, thoughtful approach tailored to each person, drawing on evidence-based methods within a warm and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship.

I specialise in emotional eating, binge eating, body image distress, and anxiety.
I work with adults who feel stuck in their relationship with food, their body, or themselves. Many come to me caught in cycles of eating for comfort and then criticising themselves for it, or exhausted by the constant mental chatter about what they ate or should have eaten. Others struggle with anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or a persistent sense of not being enough. What brings them here is often years of trying harder — and still ending up in the same place.

Parts often present themselves by avoiding situations, getting angry, or through depression, anxiety, disordered eating, disconnection and dissociation.
Clients present to therapy for a variety of reasons. I provide a safe, non-judgemental space that meets where the client is at, and gently explores what's happening in their life. Together we can work towards goals that are alligned with their hopes, aspirations, desires or needs; to improve connection with the self, interpersonal relationships and the interplay with their surrounding social world.

Eating Disorders Therapists
What happens in therapy for eating disorders?
In therapy for eating disorders, patients typically describe their eating and exercise behaviours, their patterns of eating in relation to stress, their beliefs about their body, the ways their eating behaviour affects their relationships, and their desire (or lack of it) to change. Such information helps the therapist understand the origins of the disorder and the role it plays in the patient’s life, important for guiding treatment. Attitudes and feelings about food and eating, body weight, and physical appearance are common topics of discussion throughout treatment.

What therapy types help with eating disorders?
Once any acute medical or psychiatric emergency is resolved, psychoactive medication is often prescribed, requiring the supervision of a psychiatrist. In addition, patients receive some form of nutritional counselling along with one or more forms of psychotherapy. For adolescents, family-based treatment is empirically validated and considered the first line of treatment; parents and their children meet weekly with a clinician as the adults are coached on how to nourish and psychologically support the young patient. Adults typically receive some form of individual psychotherapy, intended to resolve the cognitive and behavioural disturbances that underlie the disorder and to relieve the mood disturbances that accompany it. In addition, patients may also be helped by group therapy.

What is the goal of therapy for eating disorders?
The most immediate goal of treatment for eating disorders is to save the life of people who are on a path of starving themselves to death or engaging in eating patterns that are doing irreparable physical harm to their body. Once the acute medical danger is past, therapy is required to understand the nature of the disordered eating and/or exercise patterns, establish healthy eating behaviour, and to tackle the many erroneous beliefs and distorted self-perceptions that underlie eating disorders and continue to pose a threat to health and life. Therapy also addresses the impaired mood that not only accompanies eating disorders but intensifies the danger to health and life.

What are the limitations of therapy for eating disorders?
Therapy can be very helpful for eating disorders—but that can happen only after people recognise they have a condition that must be treated. Especially with anorexia, the distortions in self-image that accompany the disorder can keep people from acknowledging they have a problem. Individuals may in fact see their eating disorder as a badge of self-control. Those with binge-eating disorder may feel too ashamed to seek help. Therapy cannot help those who do not avail themselves of it.

How long does therapy last for eating disorders?
Because of their complexity, recovery from eating disorders is usually a long-term process—measured in months and years— often marked by setbacks and relapse. Some form of help, such as individual or group therapy, may be advisable for much of that time. It is a general rule of thumb that the longer the illness has endured and the dysregulated eating behaviour has taken root, the longer treatment is likely to be needed.
