Many people I work with are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or burnt out. They may be dealing with trauma, addiction, relationship issues, or a general sense of having lost themselves. Some don’t know where to begin they just know things can’t keep going the way they have. Whether it's processing pain, exploring identity, or finding direction, therapy offers a space to slow down and start making sense of what’s been going on.

We all have aspects of our personality and behaviour that we and others find difficult. Often we just live with these trying to control them on our own. However, this is always difficult as it is hard for us to be objective and honest about ourselves. Having someone to help us be objective and not skip over these difficult areas of our lives, can be very helpful. Together we would work on revealing and unravelling these problem areas but only at a speed you can handle, you will always be in control of this process. What you reveal is between us, confidentiality is paramount. You decide who and when you wish to share with.

Put simply, I help men deal with feelings of being alone, broken, unheard, with impacts from mild through to feeling hopeless and ‘near the end of your ability to cope’.
I help men cope with addiction, depression, stress, grief and life challenges. I help them cope with shame and suffering from sex and sexuality problems, and kink challenges.
You’re not alone, you’re not broken. There are ways to change how you feel and to make things better, in a few weeks. You’re not trapped, there is hope - you just need someone to share this with, and to help you see your way forward. That’s what I do.

“I believe that every individual will experience challenges throughout their lives and that those experiences can shape the way a person can feel, think and behave with the world around them and in their interpersonal relationships. Often we attempt to protect ourselves from feeling difficult emotions through behaving in a way that is taking us away from living the life we want. I believe that building a deep understanding and connection to the core of our emotional experience can provide understanding and clarity to promote emotional and behavioural change and mental wellbeing.”

I helps couples who struggle with communication and meeting each other's expectations in the relationship. Maybe you feel unheard and unsure if the relationship can survive. Perhaps you have tried your best to make it work but all the effort seems wasted and you are left feeling exhausted. Or maybe there was some serious incident that has really disrupted the trust within the relationship. You may have reached your limits and want to know if there is any hope in the relationship.

In the same way that you see a GP for common illnesses, a physio for muscular problems, a psychologist can help with mental, emotional and situational problems. You have a sanctuary, where it's safe to talk about things. You are not alone, and what you face is often faced by others. When you don’t know what else to do, we can help you find safety, and come up with a plan, together. We extend an invitation to adults, especially men; e.g. anxiety, depression, relationships, grief, and career. Meetings are held face to face in Seven Hills or by Zoom. Access to medicare benefits for mental health plans are available.

I work with people who are open to exploring the deeper layers of their emotional world—those navigating transitions, longing for connection, or searching for meaning. Wherever you are in your journey, our work is a place to be heard, understood, and gently accompanied toward healing.

Male Counsellors
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.
How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.
Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.
Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
