I work best with people who genuinely want to move toward greater peace, clarity, and connection. You might come to therapy because: You carry anxiety or depression that doesn’t feel resolved despite your best efforts You’ve experienced trauma, grief, or loss, and the past still shows up in your thoughts, moods, or relationships You find yourself repeating negative patterns—old schemas—that keep you frustrated, stuck, or in conflict Parts of you feel fragmented or in conflict. You’re in a relationship that’s struggling—communication is poor, trust is strained, or you feel disconnected

I am a psychotherapist who works with the person directly in front me. I collaborate with each person to unlock the inner knowing contained within their bodies. Our bodies hold an intuitive wisdom with a huge potential for healing and growth. We only need learn how to communicate the body’s language. Symptoms like depression and anxiety are not treated as problems but rather explored as experiences in the body being communicated. When we meet them as bound up processes that are seeking to be freed, we find these processes have a purpose with our best intentions at heart.

I am passionate about partnering with people to help them tolerate extreme emotion, to learn and grow and be free to choose new behaviours. I have decades of lived and years of clinical experience with Alcohol and Other Drugs use and abuse and the traumas that so often lead to it and arise from it. I have understanding of complex PTSD and the Autonomic Nervous System and the ways our experiences get laid down in our systems and repeat themselves, often causing relationship upsets.

The following quote continues to resonate and inspire me: ‘I think the most beautiful thing in the world is watching the light come back on in someone’s eyes when they have been lost in the dark for so long.’ The light slowly returned to my eyes when I embarked on my own recovery journey over 12 years ago. The unexpected gift that emerged from the struggle was a passion for this transformative process and helping guide others out of the darkness. I am a Registered Counsellor and have worked at treatment centers throughout Australia over the last 11 years, most recently at South Pacific Private in Sydney for 6.5 years.

Hi, my name is Ji Fang but everyone calls me Fang. I've known for a long time I wanted to work with people. After a successful decade-long career in Human Resources, I decided to pursue a new direction in Psychology where I can work on a deeper personal level with people. I love using my psychological skills and training to help people improve mental health, heal from trauma, overcome addictions, connect with their purpose in life, work towards their goals and build better relationships. There is nothing more rewarding than to see my clients become stronger, better versions of themselves.

Life can be both exciting and challenging. One of the greatest challenges is learning to be open and recognising that we often repeat the same mistakes, asking ourselves, “Why is this happening to me?” We develop patterns of behaviour that we unconsciously repeat, almost as if we are blindfolded. If you recognise that these patterns are affecting your life and the lives of those you love, I’m here to support you. If you are a man and see that your anger is impacting your family life and want to work through it, feel free to reach out.

Alcohol Use Therapists
Are there specific medications for alcohol use?
There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
