I believe we are all doing the best we can with what we've got, but sometimes we don't have the right skills or viewpoint from which to understand and resolve the issues that cause us to suffer. Our old coping strategies fail and we become stressed, depressed, anxious, isolated, angry, fed up, stuck, lost or hopeless. And there's a voice in us that says we've got to figure it out for ourselves, we mustn't burden others or others won't understand us. I'll listen deeply and work beside you to find your own answers, in a confidential, non judgemental, safe space. We all need to be seen and understood and to understand ourselves.

I work with adults for symptoms of anxiety, stress, burn-out, carer's fatigue, relational and interpersonal difficulties, mild-moderate depression/apathy, self reflection and personal growth, identity/self worth issues, expat therapy and more. I also offer adult ADHD assessments. Therapy can help you find clarity, steadiness, and a deeper connection with yourself and others — not just to cope, but to shift what no longer fits. This approach may be especially helpful if you're looking to deepen your self-understanding, improve your relationships, or tackle long-standing issues.

If you’ve been touched by adoption or foster care, you might carry questions about identity, belonging, or how your past continues to shape your present. You may long to feel more at peace with your story, to find words for experiences that feel complex or hard to share, or to simply be seen and understood without judgment. As someone with lived experience of adoption, I deeply understand that these journeys are layered often filled with both love and loss, connection and challenge. Together, you can explore your feelings, discover new perspectives, and move toward a way of living that feels right for you.

I work with Couples and Individuals. Some of the common issues that couples bring to counselling are; communication issues, conflict, a break down in trust, affairs, mental health concerns that are impacting the relationship, lack of emotional and or physical intimacy, conflict and stress over parenting, grief, the impact of past traumas, transitioning into retirement and new relationships. The Imago Relationship Model facilitates a new way of communication that allows couples to understand themselves and their partner more deeply and bring greater safety, connection, healing, growth and joy.

I support mothers of young children to manage the emotional toll of parenting. As a mother, you are holding so much for everyone else; physically, emotionally and mentally (as you often carry the invisible mental load). Mothering can be especially hard for those who have experienced trauma during their own childhoods. I support mothers to explore their feelings, process their past experiences and explore how to mother in a way that is aligned with their values.

Many of the people I work with come to therapy feeling stuck. They’re exhausted from repeating the same arguments, finding themselves in the same kinds of relationships, or feeling angry, numb, or disconnected—and they don’t know why. Even when they’ve done therapy before or tried to “work on themselves,” something deeper hasn’t shifted. They want real change, but can’t seem to get there on their own. What sets my work apart is that I don’t just focus on managing symptoms. I help you uncover the deeper emotional patterns that are keeping you stuck—patterns often rooted in early experiences of pain, disconnection, or unmet needs.

The core of my work is with adults who are suffering from a feeling of dissatisfaction with their lives and relationships.  You may be feeling depleted and joyless. Parenting might feel overwhelming and impossible to navigate. Perhaps you feel your needs always come last. There may even be a vague sense of not really knowing who are or what you feel.  If you are unsure of how to formulate the problem or where to start, therapy can help.  My job is to help you to put words to your silent struggle as your search for a connection with yourself and others.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
