I work with clients that experience a broad range of challenges, related to mental health, physical disabilities, grief, trauma or addictions. Most of them are at critical points in their life when they can feel stuck or overwhelmed and do not know how to proceed to move forward or action change.
Therapy facilitates self-awareness and the discovery of true potentials to resolve issues affecting your life and relationships. My role is to help you during this process of change, to sustain you toward autonomy and independence, and to make you feel better prepared to cope with the future and move towards becoming your authentic self.
A particular interest of mine are life transitions, such as embarking on parenthood, becoming empty nesters or transitioning into mature adulthood when it can become difficult to adapt to new circumstances, or even a new identity. Accepting these circumstances can be challenging and lead to heightened anxiety or depression.
When working with parents, I understand how raising a child that requires more attention than others can be hard on a family. When my son was diagnosed with a severe permanent hearing impairment when he was just 2 years old, I had feelings of being overwhelmed, of anger, of guilt and feelings of uncertainty. The grief and sense of loss can be intense.
