Hi, thanks for taking the time to look at my profile and see if we might connect. I specialise in LGBTQIA+, neurodiversity, and disability. Some of the issues that people bring to their sessions with me include - gender, sex and sexuality, religious trauma, parenting, relationships, family, mental health, and coping with daily life. Many of my clients are seeking a new perspective on challenges they've been managing for some time. Other times a difficult event, loss or personal crisis has occurred. My teen and young adult clients often need support with exploring identity, healthy relationships, self care and independence.

Many people in the current era are looking for creative alternatives to standard therapy options. Whether it be because of public health concerns, having caring responsibilities, being unable to find a suitable therapist in a particular geographic location or simply preferring the convenience that online counselling affords, telehealth may be an appropriate option. I offer confidential online or face-to-face psychology consultations and particularly resonate with those who have experienced anxiety, stress, trauma and burnout, not merely as an aloof observer, but rather as a fellow traveller who has walked that well worn path.

If you feel alone and need someone to be with you who has the ability to understand and help you understand - give me a call. Do you want help to repair your relationships with others - family, friends, workplace, children. Are you able to accept some responsibility for your own thoughts, feelings and behaviour. As an Educational Psychologist, I embrace the challenges and unique dynamics of rural communities. I recognise the resilience and interconnectedness that define these areas. My passion lies in bridging educational gaps and supporting students, educators, and families. In rural practice, relationships matter deeply. I prioritize trust-building and active listening. Beyond academics, I consider emotional well-being, family dynamics, and community ties. By collaborating with local services, I aim to create a safety net that nurtures the whole child. As an advocate, I champion better mental health services and educational resources.

Hi , I am Amanda a Humanistic, art psychotherapist, I work with clients in the now. Every client I work with looks very different. My focus is on the relationship between client, self and the space between. I have an interest in the family systems and the adolescent. I have created workshops around the connections and engagement of youth. As an arts psychotherapist, therapy can be, but does not need to be all gloom and dark sharing. Therapy can be a place to validate, process and discover. To empower and energise the strengths within.

Narrative Counsellors

Is narrative therapy evidence-based?

Narrative therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioural therapy. Some small studies do show that depressed and anxious individuals who were treated with narrative therapy reported improvement in anxiety and depression symptoms.

How long does narrative therapy last?

Narrative therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Narrative therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a few months, and sometimes a year or longer. Patients see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a person’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of narrative therapy after treatment has ended.

Does narrative therapy work?

Narrative therapy can help a person manage or reduce symptoms of conditions like depression or anxiety. This type of therapy encourages a person to reflect on the moments of their life when their particular problem was not at the forefront of their minds — perhaps life celebrations, achievements, and other successes. The individual is encouraged to rewrite their storyline as if their particular problem was not part of their life. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure.

What are the possible limitations of narrative therapy?

Narrative therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the health professional pays more attention to the subjective narratives that are constructed by the client, as opposed to other objective measures. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over all others. This open form may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every individual.
