I offer treatment for clients with chronic pain conditions and those suffering the effects of exposure to traumatic experiences or prolonged stress. The chronic pain conditions I treat include: Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, Chronic Low Back Pain and others. Some chronic pain conditions defy being labelled. Most clients can expect a substantial reduction in their symptoms or to become completely symptom free. I also offer help to those suffering the effects of trauma or prolonged stress including PTSD, insomnia, fatigue, anxiety and depression.
I employ mostly somatic therapies because they are most effective for treating trauma and chronic pain. Exposure to stress and/or trauma exhausts the nervous system, causing it to malfunction and produce the symptoms of chronic pain and other chronic health problems. Therapies include Comprehensive Resource Model Therapy and Somatic Experiencing.
I feel deeply privileged when someone shares their concerns and distress. I respond by being an attentive, respectful listener and with empathy for your painful experiences. Therapy does not start until you feel heard and understood. I will check regularly with you to make sure I am addressing your concerns and that you are happy with your progress.
