Hi, I'm Kelly. I am a therapist with a special interest in working with people living with disabilities and chronic health conditions – especially neurological and acquired disabilities. We know that people living with disabilities are more at risk of experiencing mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. You might have seen a mental health professional before, but felt that they just “didn’t get it”. You might find yourself having to explain your condition over and over again, or explaining to your therapist why something they've suggested isn’t practical for you to implement.
When you are experiencing chronic pain, fatigue, changes to your memory or learning abilities, sleep disturbances, bladder or bowel issues or incontinence, changes to sexual function, issues getting out into your community or socializing, changes to your role at work or in the family, grief and loss, stressful hospitalisations - reaching out can be hard!
I get you. I understand that whatever work we do together has to take your life's context into account. I don’t make assumptions about what you can and can’t do, or what support you might have. I believe ultimately that we all have a right to experience a sense of wellbeing, inclusion, and connection to the communities we’re a part of.
