Trauma limits our capacity to see ourselves as we truly are. Playful and creative therapies can strengthen our sense of self, and support healing for both children who have experienced trauma, and adults who have experienced childhood trauma.
Creative Arts and EMDR can go hand in hand to support healing and integration for children who have experienced trauma and adults who have experienced childhood trauma. Art and play allow individuals to express what might be difficult to put into words and allow one to connect to deeper parts of self with compassion to facilitate healing.
Art and play can develop a deeper sense of skill mastery, agency, strengthen attachments, and increase capacity for play and connection. EMDR can reduce distress associated with traumatic memories. Integrating art and play with EMDR can open possibilities not yet realized more effectively and efficiently than on their own.
