Hi there, I'm Kate (she/her) and I provide unconventional counselling for unconventional teens and young adults. Helping you to claim space in society as your authentic self, without compromising who you are. I specialise in youth mental health, LGBTQI+ specific counselling; and childhood trauma. Counselling with me can look like a lot of different things. It can involve learning new coping strategies; working through trauma; helping you to set boundaries; exploring identity and befriending parts of yourself that have been unsupported; finding the path that's right for you in a world of social norms and expectations.
As someone with my own flavour of quirky, I'm happy to say that I’m not your typical therapist. While using evidence based methods, my style is underpinned by curiosity, creativity and playfulness. I provide counselling that is trauma informed, sex-positive and uses a harm-reduction approach. Therapy with me is non-pathologising and strength affirming.
I truly believe it is invalidating to label your issues as abnormal, maladaptive or unhealthy. This is because all behaviours make sense when you appreciate their context. By taking the time to understand what’s at the root of your issues, I can support you in unlocking the right solutions for your situation. Empowering you to be the person you want to be.
