Jason loves animals and has two certified therapy dogs, who help make clients feel calm and they often join clients for a “walk and talk” session. Jason particularly likes working with neurodivergent young people and is dedicated to neuroaffirming practices. He has extensive experience working with autistic and ADHD clients and can also do neuroaffirming assessments. He also has substantial experience working with clients with OCD and schizophrenia and has completed intensive training in Exposure and Response Prevention therapy(ERP).
Jason has training in process-based therapies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness. He has worked in community mental health settings with people of all ages and was a volunteer telephone counsellor at Lifeline. His approach is person-centred and focuses on connecting with his clients in a practical and non-judgemental way.
Jason is passionate about the relationship between physical activity and mental health and often draws upon sport psychology exercises in his work with clients to help increase their motivation. He still competes in national level athletics , and these experiences have helped him develop the tools to help elite athletes dealing with performance anxiety.
